1999 Volvo S80 T6 Quiet long distance cruiser.
1990 Volvo 360 GLi Waiting inspiration.
1989 Toyota Land Cruiser For days when wellies aren't enough inside the car.
1987 Volvo 360 GLi Being restored.
1986 Volvo 740 Turbo Sold, but not forgotten.
Its an expansion tank to stop the main fuel tank leaking fuel everywhere when you fill up with fuel on a hot day.
Only 340s have it, the 360s have a different fuel tank and therefore don't have one.
One of the pipes is missing parts. On the top connection by the filler pipe, there's three hoses in that picture. The third hose on the right should be going into a small one way valve and then into the hole in the boot floor there and through out underneath the car, as its the main vent for the fuel tank. I presume that's why fuel squirts out all over the boot if you corner hard with a full fuel tank.
The smaller loose top hose should have a valve connected to it and another hose from the other side of the valve down through the hole in the base grommet of the filler tube which will connect to a pipe to the tank, as pettaw mentioned.
I have a jpeg picture of the b14 and b172 connections here but can't figure out how to post images yet but if you send me a email address I can send it over for you.
most people will have an 'email' button at the bottom of their post.
To post up images, you have to host them somewhere else. Most people either use their own webspace or a specialist picture site like Imageshack. You can then link to it using the 'IMG' button on the posting screen.

Hope this helps!
"Thanks to pettaw for pointing me in the right direction for getting pictures posted, just a bit more practice and they may be in the post rather then a link."
