From my point of view, the second one was the best, I really like the GLT with good black bumpers...

i prefer the 2nd gen too. me dad used to have one back in the day, love the rear lights and the front bumper..

i've got some 2nd gen rear lights (might even be first gen..) to try and bodge into my 86 (3rd edition), cos i like the look better.. the fittings are all exactly the same but one of the sets i have is broken, and i need some numplate lighting things.. shame..

i like the second cause i had one... can someone explain the difference between 2nd and 3rd and the year of transition, as the im not sure if an '85 model is 2nd or third, thanks

3rd had a new nose, with wraparound bumpers, and a new tail, with newer bumpers and different lights. i believe that is all.. was either '85 or '86 it changed

A 2nd gen 360 was my first Volvo, but e now have 1st and 3rd gen cars. By the way, the Blue 1st gen in the photo above is my '79 car!

@Duvel78: i thought the design of the rear lights on the first pic is the 1st generation, till makeup in '82. my 81 has these lights and small bumpers and separated nose.

those lights were 1st/2nd gen, then the third had the different cluster. incidentally you can change between them
