It was quite an easy task, even though I only got a hacksaw and a 20euro Dremel knock-off.
Starting the cutting.

My trusty dremel knock-off

Shell is beginning to open but the top gave me some trouble..
http://koti.mbnet.fi/mtn/images/autot/v ... G_2794.JPG
So let's cut the top off.

What shall we find inside..

Shell is off

http://koti.mbnet.fi/mtn/images/autot/v ... G_2805.JPG (some kind of ball valve)
http://koti.mbnet.fi/mtn/images/autot/v ... G_2807.JPG
ok so far it just looks like a rubber mount inside a steel casing.. but it's something else. It comes apart.
http://koti.mbnet.fi/mtn/images/autot/v ... G_2808.JPG
So the another end comes off and a rubber seal is revealed.
Let's remove the rubber seal, it's made of a soft rubber.

That looks weird.. Let's remove a thingy with holes in it.

What does that thing do? First I thought it has some kind of filter on it but the stuff between the discs, which can be seen through the holes, it's more like rubber than filter, though I haven't taken it out so not 100% sure.. though it didn't let any water or white spirit through when I cleaned it. Maybe a some kind of valve? That channel which goes inside the disc comes out at the other side and fluid can pass through it freely.
Here's the big rubber part of the mount

http://koti.mbnet.fi/mtn/images/autot/v ... G_2823.JPG (ball valve can be seen here, could it be refilled through the valve and what was that fluid which smelled like s*it?

All bits and bobs

So I've not yet figured out how does it actually work, is it a some kind of shock absorber or how the fluids work in the two chabers and what doest that disc type thingy in the mount exactly do? Any ideas?
I'm just trying to figure out what would be a best way to renovate old mounts. This might be also usefull info if someone is manufacturing own mounts, it helps to know how the original mounts work.. Maybe a solid polyurethane mount in a steel casing would work? That would prevent the engine falling on the road if the mount fails. Classicswede any ideas?
