John Smith from the VOC gave me some books etc last night, and when going through them in the pub, it looks like the mk1 has a single transverse leaf coming off the diff... Like the new (I want to say chevy, but could be mustang?) with the carbon single rear leaf.
I've not seen a mk1 in the scrappies for years, so can't remember!

Are you sure its a leaf spring chris? Afaik all 300 had same rear suspension design. However i know vert early cars had a damper mounted to the back of the diff, this however was brought to volvo as a problem area and so in the green fitting books there was a bulliten to remove said damper!!!!

from what i have seen on my 343 there is a upright damper and a single leaf spring. if thats what its called?
its a single flexible metal bar that is in place of a coil style spring. same as the 360's i have seen pictured on the forum.
if i get a chance when i get home i will start a thread and put a few pics of the leaf springs.
i will call the thread..............my yellow 343
original isnt it

Have you been smoking something Chris? I know it's a special day...
Facelift 960s have a transverse leaf spring....wierd!
Really stupid, slightly insulting question.....sure you're not thinking of the axle beam?
cheers

Just re-reading the books, the quote is "... Superior qualities of the de Dion rear axel combined with single leaf springs..."
Could be the diagram that I though showed the leaf springs is actually the box mounts, but not sure! I don't have a scanner here, I'll have to suss something out!
