no temp gauge and clock on speed

Post by Ricatron »

one is that my clock ticks at a ridiculously fast rate :?: i keep thinking 2 hours have gone by in 30mins :?

and my temp gauge doesnt work.

the car is great but this is strange...the temp gauge i would love to work but i want to disconnect the clock - unless i can get it to work right :)

i tried to pull the dials out but i think the speedo prevented this from happening? only had a few mins to do it as i wanted to get on the road.

any ideas on temp gauge or why the clock is on speed?

Have you checked the wire onto the engine? They can often fall off on ald cars.

i have not checked any of the simple thing because i have no idea where to look

i need to get hold of a haynes manual then i can reference that but right now im just looking at nothing.

tomorrow night i will run through the lot and soon i will get hold of a manual.

will do the usual fuse check etc but i wanted to know if there was a problem with the volvo temp gauges? im guessing its just a old car porb?

you'll need to remove the speedo cable from the back of the cluster before the binnacle can be removed...

If you need any help just ask

I'll pm you my mobile

:D cool man.

i should have no problem with takin the dash off now but when i was teasing it out i knew the speedo was holding it in and rather than just getting the crow-bar out and ripping the thing apart i thought it best to ask.

and i always get scared when you pulling at complex stuff

As well as the Haynes, look in the Technical Resources section, all the OEM volvo service manuals are there, as used by the dealers, much more detail!

I agree very mcuh with Chirs.. haynes isnt so good for some things as lack of diagrams. volvo serv manuals are excellent and give clear info for this.

there is a knack to getting the speedo cable undone, once it and binnacle is out you can see how it goes in and locks....

there is always a 'way' of getting these things out but most people find it out after the crow-bar has had its way with it, then they say "ahh thats how you should do it!"

i tried to have a look at the tech diagrams but work took over
