I'm currently making decisions on a flywheel for my 2.3 lump as I think there are several styles over the years that fit. I'm trying to get the lightest setup I can is it will be an NA build. Pretty sure the 360 would fit, but you'd have to machine it if you were to run lh2.4 injection on the tubby

Assuming you're looking to run LH2.4 management on a 360, you're looking for a flywheel from a car which has LH2.4 and an M46 or M47 gearbox. In practical terms, that means a late 240 (1991+), late 740 (1990+), or early 940 (1991-1994).
There are three interchangeable flywheels, each with a different pickup pattern, but which are otherwise identical, and can take the same clutch. These are known as the "dished" flywheel. All would become clear if I posted a pic
A 360 (Renix) flywheel has a 44-4 (or something wierd like that) pattern. A LH2.4 flywheel is 60-2 (a standard pattern), and a 740/760 Turbo with Motronic has a single TDC peg. I have all three types sat in the parts store. Sad....
Jason - early 240s have a different type of flywheel (the "flat" flywheel) which is lighter, but to be honest, you may as well just lighten a standard 'dished' flywheel. I've got a flat flywheel for my 360, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle, to be honest.

I share your concern....but I don't know anyone who's had their feet taken off by a redblock flywheel

I think I'll get it done and just make a shield for when I fit the engine. As you say I've never heard of a redblock one let go, and as far as I know it should be fine as long as you don't take off a ridiculous amount. (anyway, 5kg of guard is nothing if you consider the theoretical translated weight advantage of running a lighter flywheel
