An old friend of mine had his car broken in to that many times he got sick and tired of all the damage they were doing to it and him having to replace doors, locks and glass that in the end he just decided to leave the car unlocked. They were causeing more damage trying to get in to the car then when they actually gained entry. He just removed the HT lead from the car so it wouldn't start.
You could always put a hidden kill switch in the electrics somewhere or a fuel shut off va;ve, the later makes them think they got away with it but the car suddenly runs out of fuel down the road.

Yeah I've been thinking about the old fashioned kill switches, and I think I'll be relocating the ignition barrel to a tamper-resistant steel box, with the wires running through braided steel so they can't be messed with. Maybe a high quality alarm too.

The way the car runs at the moment there's no way they'll be able to do the choke balancing act and get it to drive away. I'd be down the stairs, out the door, and beating them senseless by the time they got it to idle without cutting out.

A mate of mine had is window smashed even though the doors were not looked. A lot of theives are to lazy to even check

My housemate had a window on his T5 smashed. Damage: £140. What was taken: An empty laptop bag...more or less worthless. I mean it's pretty nuts, really...

My Gran had a mk2 Humbre Sceptre up until pretty recently (I think it went the same year I started driving....so 6-7 years ago?)...although before you start mourning its retro pimpness, from memory, it was pretty screwed...rust & dents. Aaaanyway....scrotes once smashed the front quarterlight in order to switch the headlights on so they could see to rob from the boots of all the other cars in the car park

I think you need to drill out the bolts on the steering/ignition lock, to drop it out. Haynes covers it, from memory.

The steering lock is toast but I'm not gonna bother to change it because a steering lock is just there to be broken.
Besides, how you gonna drive my car when the steering wheel sleeps next to me, bitch? And a scavenged multilock is keeping things nicely in reverse? Bolted in with round headed cup square bolts?
