Exhausted

Post by workshopmanualman »

Hi,

I've just been offered a Volvo "exhaust kit" for the 360 for £70, including being delivered. Is this a good deal for a genuine part? I'm not convinced, but you guys know better than I.

On another note, are the 360's generally poor starters? I've essentially changed the ignition system, and the fuel filter, but it still chugs into life, firing intermittently from cold for a minute or so, so I figure it may be a feature of these cars. Otherwise it may be injector related?

At least changing all these bits got rid of the hesitancy when accelerating, so bonus ball there.

All injected 360's seem lame from cold, think it's down to the LE jet. Andy modded his a while ago, changing the cold start injector (ok, I'm making this up, it was something like that) duration, and it worked much better.

The LE jet schematics were availible a while ago, just changed a resistor/capacitor pair to a different time constant, but it involves knowing what you want that time to be!

The LE jet 360's are normaly poor cold starters due to teh managment system.

As to the exhaust how much of teh exhaust are you being offered?

Poor starting

Post by workshopmanualman »

Thanks for that - guessed it was the car. As for the exhaust, it is described as a kit... so needs investigating further. If it is just a couple of silencers, poor value.

As far as I'm aware the Volvo 'kit' is the downpipe back and all the fixings/hangers/brackets.... For £70 I'd snap it up.

If you don't want it, though.... let me know :D

Cheers, I'll call the guy tomorrow and make said purchase. Funny what people have sitting on their shelves - and all you have to do is ask!

...seems he also has the down pipe, so guess you are right; it is seperate.

2nd item...

Post by workshopmanualman »

Seems there may be two such kits in existence, but I'll have to check tomorrow. If there is, would anybody be interested in the second one? At the moment I have no idea if there is, or isn't a second one - tad vague on that point. from this forum, and looking at the stuff he has, the kit does not include downpipes.

If it's a genuine kit, yes... I'm after everything from the downpipe back. I assume that the tailpieces for saloon/hatches are sold seperately from the stealer, though

Ah!

Post by workshopmanualman »

That's a good point - made the daft assumption that the guy knew I had a saloon. I'll check that one out and get back to you there.

D'oh!

Well here's a curious thing for the LE-Jet debate. My 1984 GLT with a B19E (but still LE-Jet) purred like a kitten from cold...well...it did when it still started :(

Most are a touch lumpy, and there's seemingly nothing much to be done about it...but if it's actually misfiring, that might be something more sinister.

cheers
