Painful Question - May not come true

Post by Uba »

sm44

I may and I use the word MAY have to part with my Volvo 360GL next year.
What I need to know is would anyone be inerested in taking her on if this happens?.

I have askes locally and I will not tell you what people told me to do.

Please note she is not for sale yet, this is a queston just in case.

B200K, 1987, 83,500 miles

Silver

Nice happy car (needs a new front valance (genuine replacement supplied)).

I will also take requests for any reason why I need to keep her

why do you need to get rid of her?

if she's got 12 months mot you can probably get £100-150 for her, depends really, sounds like shes rusty..

I'm sure you'd find someone here who'd want the car - it's probably about the best place to try - a bunch of enthusiasts rather than the average person targetted in private ads.

As Hugh said, it's really not going to be worth alot according to market value, so it may even benefit you keeping it! Or atleast a good excuse to keep it :)

She is not rusty it is just the front valance, she is a two owner car, FSH up to 1999.

She did not come with the front fogs and water got caught behind the front valance. I have checked and that is the only area affected (she has had sill welding, but they are solid).

She is an honest car with a good fast engine in, reliable and safe (as you know :360: ).

I will replace the valance and foglights if necessary if it comes to selling her.

I do want to keep her (like scaring those nova boys sm37 ), but she may become inpractical for the amount of miles I have to do for work, and it wouldn't be fair to her. She is actually in damn good condition (not as good as the 360 GLT I saw an old guy driving (bodykit, no rust, sparkling sm65 ). But pretty good for her age and type.

Now if you want a rusty car I have a 340GL 1.4...............

I'd be interested in hearing your reasoning behind why the 360 couldn't be used for the extra mileage. The only major factor I can see is fuel consumption, but then something 'modern' and 'efficient' buys an awful lot of petrol and servicing! If it's reliability...well a 360 actually breaking down usually makes the national news...

The only factors which would turn me off using the 360 long-term on the motorways above about 80mph is a) wind noise, and b) the B200K is a bit gutless at speed....a little bit...I'm being fussy. I still love being able to pull away from lowly BMW 3-series 'rep models' that come a'flashing in the outside lane....it'd just be nice to be able to do the same to a 330i...or that EVO 6 that flashed me on the M40 on the way to the VOC Crooked Billet meet....prick. Oh for a turbo!

cheers

Pah, surely doing loads of miles is a reason /to/ keep it?

I used to live in Manchester for the last few years, and was a regular sight on the M6 doing the ~200 miles to London or Norfolk---the car loved it, and I just have the B172. I've driven several other cars long distance, and nothing beats the volvo, it's just soo comfortable (I've spent over 6 hours in that driving seat with barely a hint of sore bum). In the time, it only let me down once (90Mph, trying to decide whether to go for M6Toll or M6 Regular, and one of the coolant hoses fell off---this pretty much made the decision...)

In a crash you'll only loose if you collide with a juggernaut or armoured personnel carrier (well, maybe not that extreme, but it is solid). And you've got a real volvo engine unlike me, so shouldn't fear high mileages.

Besides, surely deflating the egos of those Audi and New-VW-Golf drivers out there is good enough reason to keep the car?
