heya just joined the forum........
Ive just got myself a 2.0 litre volvo 360 glt and was looking to swap the engine for a turboed lump coz i want to have a go at drifting it lol.
Looking thro the forum and on the internet ive read about 2.0 turbo engine and 2.3 turbo conversions but if im honested im still a little confused. which is best or easiest?
would an it be a striaght engine swap onto the cars orginal gearbox and the engine mountings? apart from the flywheel, oil pump and sump off of the orginal engine.

Well, there is a search... it's covered in detail in areas of the forum.
Yes it will fit, 2.0 and 2.3 same difficulty... will all bolt up fine, consider flywheel and ecu differences. Clearance tight on inner wing where turbo fits, either use adapter/alter engine mount/custom manifold.

2.0 or 2.3 are more or less the same difference in terms of complexity...just with slightly different issues. Personally, I'm putting in a 2.3. Yes, it all bolts up just fine once you swap oil pump, sump, water pump and engine mounts.
The issues are plumbing it all up (clearance for DP, for example) and providing fuel and spark. Don't even think about using the standard setup. You either need to graft on a later fuel system, or go programmable. The latter is the superior option in terms of flexibility and performance....but a bit more rough & ready than an OEM system.

I have put in a 740 turbo engine. I changed the sump, oil pump I wired in the complete 740 ignition system and injection system (in Aust . we got the LH 2.2).I put in a lightend 240 flat flywheel. I made my own engine pipe and had it ceramic coated to keep the heat off the master cylinder.
At the moment i am running standard boost and no intercooler (there is know room with the air con condensor) The car is a lot of fun to drive. I had to make my own rh engine mount bracket and used a 240 rh engine mount. It needs an LSD and an intercooler and screw the boost up to make it a real weapon

What's the red piece on the chassis rail under the turbo?

With the standard manifold i have about an inch of clearance and the turbo sit just over the rail.
no intercooler. I was going to fit a skyline intercooler on the lh side near the battery but never got around to it.
The red bit near the turbo is the top part of the engine mount bracket. It's a bit rough but it works.

I'm guessing you've replaced the standard engine mount with one which bolts up in the same location, but drops down, then uses a standard cushion-type mount. I have a front crossmember which has a bracket welded to it for a 240 engine mount. Same idea, but a different execution.
My plan is similar to yours, but using 940 hydraulic mounts instead of the 240 rubber ones. I've seen bits of this arrangement...and it's neat.
