Hi guys, after abit of help here.
Is the red bit structure? to me it looks like i could just weld abit of steel in there and that would sort it out....surely this is just another panel, I'm thinking this cars just got a ladder chasis?

I'd just weld a new piece in there...but I'd butt-joint it if you can, rather than patching over the top. The latter is usually a recipe for a rapid return of the brown stuff!

I'd justs weld a patch in. make sure you cut out all the rotten metal.
Also note that on later cars the very bottom peice was dropped probably to stop much getting trapped.
