I've been looking at an exhaust on the bay, and was wondering if anyone knows whether it's the right one for my B200 360?
The seller doesn't have a part number. The way the pipes are bent into the back of the box looks very familiar, but I always thought the back box was the last piece of the exhaust assembly - here it looks like a length of pipe is missing ...
Looks right... but most aftermarket backboxes have the tailpiece as an integral part of the system. The Genuine Volvo item had a bolt on tail piece which varied between the saloon/hatchback lengths - so you'll need a tailpiece too.
Haha fair point... might be worth a try though, they did still sell the kits till recently(ish). But probably will make going for that rear box a bit expensive compared to other aftermarket stuff!
Hm, I just had a look at my 1993 microfiche (for models built from '85 onwards) and they show a similar picture to the aftermarket back boxes (with an integral pipe). I can't see the bolt-on tailpiece part listed seperately. Does anyone have VADIS handy?
Thanks for looking that up. I've found those two part nos you mentioned - but they bolt on to the "early" (?) type of back box design (3343473) which looks a bit like this:
With the above shape, the part no. for the silencer itself is the same for hatch and saloon versions, the difference in length seems to be made up by the extra tail pipe.
As far as I can tell, I have something very similar to 3213328 (3/5dr) fitted, where the exit pipe is on the same side as the entry at the rear of the silencer. A bit like this:
and similar to the pic in my first post, but the pipe is extended all the way to the back of the car. My microfiche doesn't mention extra tail pipes for this type of silencer design, but does give different part numbers for 3/5 and 4dr silencers.
The one in the Ebay pic is supposed to be an original Volvo part - but I'd expect the pipe to be longer.
I would believe the one in the ebay listing is a genuine Volvo item, it's very rare for the aftermarket systems to have a bolt on tailpiece (as the Volvo item did).
