bad roads / dampers & gearbox clutch perhaps(s)

Post by Vart »

Hello

after starting a job i've noticed my 340 doesn't like bad roads much and since i live in hampshire the roads are third rate. if i try and accelerate over said bad roads the car lurches and fails to proceed as it should. i know the shocks at the back are fairly corpsified but i'm not entirely convinced its them. thoughts?

also i've noticed that when the car is cold the gear change is even worse (i know the syncho is shot on second) than normal and the gear lever wobbles something awful. now i'm also aware the clutch is probably on its way out and has been for 20,000 miles but its not slipping and after a while with slower than normal changes the wobble subsides. thoughts? i figured the clutch is going home and as it takes up the slack bounces drive between drive and not-drive although performance isn't much affected. thoughts again?

see what you guys think

cheers

Good tyres and new shocks will help. Also, check your rubbers

Most Hampshire lanes have a natural fear of 300's, they are either grandads or motor club cars :D

Bush wise - do new shocks usually come with replacements or do these typically need to be bought separate? if the latter, are poly ones a lot better for general use?

New shocks should come with their own bushes. There's also wishbone, tie bar and anti-roll bar bushes to think about. Real shame Dai is off the scene... But check this recent thread: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... =superflex

I'm pretty sure rally design still sell those two bushes, shame they don't do arb ones but I'm sure some for another car are the same size.
