There you have it, not quite so difficult then. Sell the 340 GL 1983 and everything's perfect
No tax after 25 years I didn't know the Netherlands had such cool classic car rules. In Germany we pay "only" 190 Euros after 30 years, if the car is in a good original condition. But a 340 Diesel on a regular (ie non-historic) plate costs 620 Euros a year
imo france has the best policy, u pay 1 time tax then never again so it was like 200euros for the 340 1.7 maybe less i think. and even better..if you have a classic u only need to mot it once then never again! but.. you have to stay in your department(area)/and surounding area's. if you want to go out of it you need a passport type thing stamped.
also if the police find something wrong you must fix it with in a certain time. ie a light bulb not working.

I can't log in to my hosting to upload a pic of the actual car right at the moment, but if you're not familiar with what a 164 looks like, here's a link to one...which is rather nicer than mine!
My Dad borrowed the car for a couple of weeks in 1991 when I was 7, and I fell in love with it. I was angry with him for several weeks when he decided not to buy it...until he bought the silver 360, and all was forgiven...
I now have the opportunity to buy the very same car for very little £. It's a bit struffy - needs door skins, windscreen surround, 'buttcheeks' (spare wheel wells) and a few other little bits, but it's all there, drives nicely, and being tax exempt is a big bonus.
Saw a mint red at the shopping centre, judging by the pink bag and seat covers owned by a young girl, unfortunately I'd be more partial to the car even though both would sound nice!!

Well, I bought it... There is a very very temporary place for it. Now the question is: for parts or do I keep it and restore it? It has some rust on the rear wheel arche. It's a 85 model, not 84 as I said before. Alf has the B19, I have the B200.
Little question to you Alf: is it light blue on your car (code 218) or is it the blue grey used until 1984? In first instance, I didn't realized that small difference.
On this picture, the 218 blue is on the background.
