Anyone doubt the existence of scene tax?

Post by filthyjohn »

Here we have a set of Canis alloys from a 400series for sale on ebay, starting at 99p:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0402841499

And here we have the exact same rims being sold as VW:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0372511742

£100 start. They must have been bored out to fit VW hubs, stock ones wouldn't go over the centres. Incidentally I was driving near carlisle and saw a mk3 golf on someone's drive with a set of these on.

Hmmm........

Seller called Seasidestevo and in Preston trying to flog Volvo wheels to VW chaps.........

I bet it's the guy also called SeasideVolvo who is mysteriously also located in Preston and he's heard that 400 wheels share the same PCD as VW wheels so is trying to inflate their price not realising that they have a different centre bore.

if so, hes going to end up with one highly irate dis-satisfied customer.

You can't really begrudge ppl for trying to make a few quid, but not at the expense of defrauding others..... Say if you shelled out 150+ for what u thought were genuine VW rims, then you ended up with volvo ones, you'd be well unhappy!

Mind you, ebay is full of cheats, scammers, and liars - the trick is to know exactly what you're buying! If something seems too good to be true, then it probably is..
