this happened to anyone before?
how does the other persons insurance company value a write-off?
is it up for negotiation?
Would they take into account the agreed valuation on MY policy?

Well, when i rang up volvo the other week wanting a week they wanted £80 and a 3 or 4 week wait for it to come from sveeden ya.

my bodyshop i use will do my wing for about £40 sprayed up but i went second hand and paid £25 for one from my local volvo breaker who has become a good mate now and i get discounts on some stuffs.

so under £200 if you remove the wing yourself. £300 if you dont. maybe more because of the other panel damage.

Closer inspection reveals the door is indeed full length gouged too.
Think I might be able to live with that though.
Depending on what offers come back from the Insurance.

Deffinatly undriveable at the minute. the wing and inner wing are pinned to the wheel, and its a fair bit of tin to maul out.
The wheels are square on, but a left turn would just shred the rubber.
Deffinatly not a 'pop it out with a prybar' job to get it useable again.

Coming over with John tomorrow so we will take a look. I'm sure the wing can be straightened/pulled out enough to clear the wheel and tyre.

It shouldn't have to be done though! That's some shitty luck man, and WTF was she playing it, as you say you can see she just kept going and gouging

At least she fessed up and the wheels are in motion - that in itself can be quite a battle mate!

We'll sort something mate. Get John to bring his Dremmel I would think remove the wheel and push/hammer the wing back into some sort of shape? We'll see when we get there. I''l load up with tools.

I may have missed this but no chance of her just laying out a few hunderd direct to you to save the insurance carry on mate?
Maybe she has a sky high excess or something though.

i was litterally walking out the door to work when she hit it. i stopped to take details and was forty mins late for work. didnt get pics. but the corner of her car is destroyed, corisponding to the corner of my car thats destroyed. and she lives across the road.
Even Jessica Fletcher herself would have trouble getting her out of this one.......................................

Dude i'm a long way from you but if you need help with the bodywork let me know. In both my situations with damage to my car, because other driver admitted fault. I received a cash a leau settlement, so a cheque in my name to cover cost of repair that way car doesnt get written off either. Remember to state to your insurance that under no circumstances will you accept the car be written off if she admitted fault.

Ah no, that's a real shame with such a nice car Hopefully all will get sorted.

Why can't people take more care when going through gaps, or manoeuvring close to another car? It only takes a few seconds more and you reduce the chance of hitting it, and reduce how much damage you'd do if you did catch it

Didnt know that would be an option so thats a great help mate. Advice appreciated.
If i can get the wing out, think i'll run it as is for now, then maybe have a think. Run it down your way for a bit of body and HP titilation depending on how much money comes in. And if youre up for some engine swapage.
The doors creased and I think the wings beyond saving, which means paint. Which might as well mean a full respray. Which means its actually gonna be quite a big project anyway. Which in turn means, i might as well change the engine while we're on.

I can imagine the look on her face tho if she wonders out her door to see a row of 300's with the drivers all inspecting the damage and then looking up at her lol.

If it was an accident fair does but if she was drunk then she should get shafted for even considering getting in her car accidents do happen tho and its not the end of the world, remember when i was reversing an old jetta about late and with steamy windows and my dad jumped outta his impreza to close a gate and left the door open which i then reversed into and heard an allmighty crack, followed by the smell of urine , wasnt to bad damage, i think there was more damage to my pants then the door
