Volvo 350R T5 Engine Track Project U/D 18/02/13
Well its about that time where the 340R gets an update, since i have had the car this will be its 3rd Evolution of major mods, hence EVO 3 lol
Engine build thread
http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... =13&t=6017
Accident repair thread
http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... =13&t=6957
Basic plans are coilovers all round with Rosejointed 6link rear suspension including a watts link setup
New brakes including a bias peddle box with 280mm drilled and grooved vented front disks and same spec 273mm rears
All inner arches will be stripped back to bare metal etched and re stonechipped
Rebuilt gearbox with quickshift (LSD in Pipeline and very close....)
And a stronger Engine build with Vernier pullies, Cams and Remap And oversize inlet valves
So once the white car is on the road it all will begin properly, original plans are to get it all turned around for PPC in the park but its going to be stupidly tight.... Fingers crossed
So anyways some teaser shots to keep you all going.....
Enjoy

Your car was cool/quick enough when i've been out in it with you, with these mods it's going to be sh*t hot.
Look forward to seeing the next evolution.

wow, is that a 340 specific one?
Re: Volvo 340R EVO 3
Nice, anodised blue aswell, looks awesome.
If it's not a standard fit, want to tell me how to make a quick shift, or sell me your old one ?

Re: Volvo 340R EVO 3
Got Engine stripped out of the grey car today so i can now put it up on stands and remove all the suspension components. Had a look at the damage on teh car too, prop is sheared and hit the linkage. Dont know what order it happened though.

Re: Volvo 340R EVO 3
So is that line on the prop just a groove or has it snapped in to? Must've been giving it some beans

Re: Volvo 340R EVO 3
Bit of an update i'm going to do another first on this car, i'm going to modify the 1.7 bellhousing to accept the 360 torque tube. That way i think the transmission will take more abuse.

Re: Volvo 340R EVO 3
Isnt it easier to get a 360 bellhousing, and make a spacer for it? And arent there any beter options than 360? They will hold 16v power, but thats all said. I know of one person here in the NL, having used a transaxle from a porsche 924/944/928 or something like it...It used the same principle as V300. He drives the ODC driftchampionship with it now
Re: Volvo 340R EVO 3
The guy you probably mean uses a transaxle from a Porsche 928 behind his Volvo engine. However he had to lengthen the torque-tube and balance it out, which cost a awful lot of money.
On that transaxle he uses a clutch from a mitsubishi lancer evo, which fits the Volvo engine and the 928 torque-tube quite well, without major changes.
The driveshafts are thick ones with hookes couplings rather than cv-joints. Also porsche brakes are applied on the front and rear.
Not an easy or cheap job altogether.
