well for such a quality restauration it seems allmost like a shame not to refurb the original engine.

i can understand the b200e conversion too though, bit more power and no choke etc

I have to say I've never had any complaints about my injected 360s (although maybe LU jet is different to LE jet?) except maybe for a pretty lumpy idle on startup.

I'm looking forward to the direct comparison soon with my "new" B19A ...

I have a donor car (360GLT 1985), and this engine is in percfect condition, the milage is just over 110k.
The B19A engine needs a renovation, in process... many parts, money and time.

I am glad to see a restauration so weel documented. Had to do the same to my 1979 343 but didn't take that many pics.
Also loved the way you managed to produce a lot of your own panelbits.

I am sure the engine will follow in the future....it would be hard to believe that such a lot of work to make it as good as new would end with a different powertrain.

First post after lurking for a while but thought I'd show off my 360 GLT having just had to take photos for an Agreed Value on my new multi-vehicle (gulp) Classic insurance






Not quite sure what to do with her yet but I've got into Red Blocks after reading up for an engine rebuild on a fixer-upper 940 Estate. The 'Turbo bricks' are a bit on the large size for a run-about (I already have a Land Rover or two for hauling) so when this came up on the 'Bay while searching for a temp daily driver, I had to have it!

Definately not mint (rusty rear arches and doors, heater always hot, no 'screen washers or headlamp wipers and the drivers window just gave up!) but she goes well on my M25 commutes and seems to be returning 30mpg!

A good basis for something 'interesting'

you saved it from ebay, youre fixing it and its your car. Pumping up the powers is understandable.
Think what p!sses a lot of people off is wannabe 2 and a half month, and then bored of it Drifterz taking mint examples and wrecking them.

Fixing and upgrading is understandable. IMO anyway.

Mines going 2.3 single carb with a roofrack.

... and GLT saloons are even more rare ... Great buy!

Some of those niggles could be easy to fix - heater always hot could mean a leaky heater tap (they're in the engine bay and should be easy to source). Non-working electric window might just be a faulty switch, try swapping the switches over in the centre console to see if it's that ...

Electric motors tend to sieze, usually can be freed off if you take them out of their mechanisms and run them on a battery while soaking them in WD40.

Nice looking GLT though has to be said!

I think thats the problem because there is an attempt at movement sometimes!

Not looked much into the 300 history but I noticed the brochures that came with the car (quite a lot of documentation with it actually) were of "Celebration" models in Volvo's range of the time (1987). Is this one of those?

Dont think 300s had a Celebration model.
They had a Millionaire model, which ive seen a couple of, but never a 300.

It would be badged on the rear and have a VIN "style" numbered plate on the dash if it was.
(well the 400 series Celebrations do anyway)
