A mate has an E36 with this engine and it goes well. That weighs 1300kg though.

Nice inners, I'm jealous I'm welding mine at the moment.
I also have some experience of the 2.5 straight 6, my partners 323i had one, but it is a detuned version apparently. My 940 Turbo could beat it in a straight line with standard boost (I even gave her time to get moving). The B230 has alot more torque, but there is nothing like the sound of those straight six's, the 325 version should be alot faster, but I suspect its not much better than a boosted B230 and heavier.
Couple of pointers;
6 litres of oil - if you want the best thats alot of Mobile 1!
Don't run it for a short time when cold, it will lose compression and be very very very difficult to start (I went through 2 batteries).
Water pump wear seems common.
Some years have a problem with engine wear, they used the wrong materials for a while.

yer i know about there problems and the oil made me laugh but never mind and this engine is a 2.5 so 190hp standard but should easily have 210 with a few little mods plus no turbo yet less bits to go wrong and this is what i rely wanted to get rid of is volvos wank drive chain set up for something that can take decent power/torque without worrying about things but i know what you say it would of been alot easier to fit a volvo lump but i like doing things different/stupid and it was stupidly cheap at the moment its only cost me 300 and theres only metal to by now so im thinking it should be in for less than 500 thats why iw anted to do it just a shed load of my time

Not trying to pee on your parade, good luck!
Also again not trying to start an argument, but the 360 drive (not 340) will take about 250BHP, and the B230FT will go wrong ALOT less than any BMW engine. The turbo is a simple thing, and just needs an overhaul every 130K or so depending on boost, fairly easy to get 250BHP out of it without expensive mods.
I do appreciate the doing things differently thing, I'm the same, its not without pain!

yer i get what you mean it would be alot easier to go down that route but my thoughts are if im spending money on this then future proof it as i know 250 wont be enough i know they make good power but its 250bhp is the limit my set up has got scope for easy 450hp with out problems

thats the main reason ive gone this stupid route it may be hard and stupid but thats the way i like it haha

well cant rely call this a update more of a wonder
ive had the rear axle off for ages mocking up another axle then deciding i want IRS so out with that lot and back on with the standard axle and this got me thinking what about flipping the leaf springs i heard people say it at gest so thought why not try it as i hadnt seen pics of anyone doing it so i did but to do this i had to turn the axle up side down because off clearance issues which messed up the tracking but its only to push it about so some proof PICS of flipped leaf springs and axle id say 2"-3" drop but no way you could drive it off side

near side
