Non Volvo content, but outside of my house seems to be becoming somewhat of a magnet for cool retros.

Metallic green/blue G reg (G??? MKY) yesterday in Great Houghton, near Grimethorpe), looked like a 4 door 1.7 but not sure, no photo as I was driving and it was coming the other way. First different one I've seen for ages, so now seen only 5 within 25 miles of here in the last year (one of which has now gone).

On hols in Malta recently I spotted three, no pics though I'm afraid as they were seen through the window of a speeding bus. One 345, a 340 hatch and a 340 GLE saloon all in pretty good nick. I managed to embarrass the girlfriend by pointing and yelping "look, a 340!!"

They were all in the same area, Msida/Pieta just outside Valetta, so if you're every holidaying there keep your eyes peeled.

Wednesday AM in Fakenham, Norfolk, silver or gold 5-door 340, J reg. Just filled up at the same Shell petrol station on Creake Road. He got away before I could ambush him with a V3M card! Anyone on here?

Yes VFW's been caravan towing again! 423 miles in 4 days, Doncaster to Great Yarmouth and back taking in Cromer and east Runton. The only other 300 seen on the whole journey!

About time i actually put some pics up rather than just tell you what i spotted. The grey 5 door with roof rack i mentioned earlier seems to have gone, i fear it's gone to the scrap yeard in the sky

Got accosted by a bloke in ASDA carpark yesterday, saying he had a 300 as well and do i mind if he took some pics :D

Spoke to hime for a bit, nice chap, told me he had a 1.7 Redline which he got from his mother who only used it to go back and forth to the shops. Had 5000m on it when he got it, now up to 45000. I said when he comes to sell it let me know, so he told me where it was in the carpark and i stopped to look as i was leaving. This thing was TIDY, it looked spotlessly clean so promplty took some pics, then stuck my number and the V3M address under the wiper :D .

As i've got round to plugging the lead into my phone i'll also share some of my other Volvo spots from the last few months

I spotted this one in Eastleigh's train station carpark, seemed to be there everyday for a week so must commute to work on train.

This is the grey 3dr i spotted in my local scrappers on my most recent visit, don't really understand why it ended up there, had low mileage, less than 70k IIRC looked as though it was rust free, all damage seems to have appeared in the breakers :?

Look how rust free that front valance is

Volvo content but non 300:

Yummy chocolate brown- North London

Not really a spot as such but my mates cars, Bens Glt which we used to go and pick up Neals Torslander, this was the day of the purchase, looks like a Volvo catologue pic i think :D

Image

Lastly i appologise about the poor pictures but i tried my best and it was already on full zoom.
My pinnacle of Volvo spotting so far was this:

Can you guess what it is yet?

After seeing that blue one I can't help but think they should never have even offered the vinyl roof as an option, it looks so much cleaner and smoother in one solid colour, yet all the ones i've seen bar that one have the dodgy roof covring.

Tonight I was out for my dad's birthday and casually he said "oh there's someone at work whos wife has one of those variomatic 340s since new".

Naturally my response was "cool, tell her I'll have it when she has finished with. What sort of year are we talking?"

"oh, sort of mid 70s, something like that"

 cough splutter

Will get pictures as soon as I can, it's in Basingstoke and still in use.

Could it be a '76 sm97 I'd clear my drive for one

If it was that old though I doubt she'd be it's first owner, my dads now 79 and was 46 when he bought ours in 77. They would have had to have bought it when she was 30ish to still be of working age now around 65. It's not impossible though as the oldest were varios!
