gearknob is the result of a solid piece of aluminium that after 5minutes of my unleashed creativity in our machine shop turned out into this
steering wheel hub is original Volvo R-Sport, i have the original R-sport steering wheel itself too but i like the sparco one more than the R-sport steeringwheel
fitted new lowering springs today:

just kiddin, new lowering springs are at the powdercoater guy atm, but lowering won't be near this extreme at all. the car har axle stands at the rear because yesterday i was busy with the stainless steel exhaust.
first i welded the Y-valve to the damper, en put a piece of pipe at the back of the damper
testfit:
testfit the bend for the sidepipe:
testfitting was a fun job
straight after the bend it comes out like this:
but i want something more like this:
so made some measurements and then i produced this:
that piece only needs it's welding to be finished.
also on the to do list; heatshield
exhaust comes a bit too near to the fuel lines.
i've forgotten to buy exhaust clamps so found myself stuck yesterday.. will do the welding on the final piece this afternoon and get some exhaust clamps early this week, i've allready tryed the damper and y-valve; sounds very cool! nice dark sound but not too loud

just had a very bad evening
first i fitted the exhaust; went well except for the fact that somehow the endtip is pointed downwards but was ment to point upwards; need to cut the last pipe in half and redo the welding unfortunatly.
then i did a small testdrive, after a few miles i slowed down for a traffic light when suddenly i heard a clucking noise, looked under the car and the electric actuator of the open-exhaust valve was loose... undid the thing and saw that 3 bolts were missing and caused the part to drop loose.. one of the motor axles is bent and it's missing a sprocket, dammit!
did some mileage on the highway and noticed i can take the speedo apart again, for resetting the needle has to be removed and i haven't wound it up enough so it says the wrong mileage, haven't gps checked it but i think that if it says 100kmh i'm actually doing 150kmh

a mate was driving along with his vw golf 2 g60, we did a full throttle pullop at a traffic light and he couldn't keep up with me
after the highway a small roll in a nearby town, a high and unmarked speedbump came up ahead, did heavy braking but it wasn't good enough, a loud GGGHHHK and snap followed, next i had to back the car up to pick the front spoiler off the ground.. bummer!

just took a look at the front spoiler, gti lip a bit scarred and the volvo glt lip broken on the mounting points. the piece can be repaired though, for now i'll place a normal glt lip back and will do something else for the second spoiler, it needs 2 extra inches of ground clearence so a sharper angle.

well, today we had a v3c technical day but yesterday i meeted up with the b14.4e powerd 343 '82 blue special in Heerde (one of my old engines) to get it running good again, all a succes and it runs great again after replacing a few gaskets. the owner of the 343 has a sister wich drives a 340 diesel with a diagnose waiting for the technical day so this morning the ironic couple of holland's quickest 340 and slowest 340 went to Ermelo to meet up with the other v3c members.
2 vids finally:
a 340 DIESEL overtaking a 340 turbo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKwt8_zkMwE
offcourse, he didn't shoot me overtaking him at double his speed

too bad he didn't tape it actually..
yes, it has a paddle clutch

(you can hear the bov too when changing gear if you listen carefully):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i9v2yu_7Xw
loads of fun, and a lot of succesfully accomplished jobs including a cvt clutch change (unique for these technical days due to time) lots of cvt belt/clutch adjusting, various diagnosis and a few steering/suspension checkups etc..
the 340 turbo did very very well on its first longer trip i must say, it can consider itself to one of the quicker things on the road i believe. more power does make a smoother ride, on quiet road i got to 180kmh on gps with 150 on the speedo (needle is set wrong after i resetted the speedo, is on the to do list) wich is nowhere near it's max speed, and even with 200kg of ballast in the trunk i still managed drifting on dry tarmac, too bad the extra lowering due to the ballast and a sharp/quick right turn made the exhaust tip touch the tarmac, it's useless now, needs complete replacement instead of the rewelding of the tip wich i initially planned.
pics have been made too but mijnalbum.nl has some server trouble, will try to get the high resolutionpics on my email so i can post them here
@ youtube vids, what tag needs to be used to display them in a post?
