Hi Lads.
This week i got some work done on the Bannana. The origionall rev counter has been
fitted and is working perfectly. Thanks to a bit of advice from the great macplaxton.
It also now has a tailgate bling strip, again thanks macplaxton
Having fitted the bling bumpers, i had lost the front spot lights that i built
into the old bumpers so a new bracket was made and the new spot lights now sit
in front of the grill. The old rev counter was one from an MGB GT and this has
now been replaced with a clock from a 144 :D
Cheers Mark.

That rev rev counter looks very much like the one from a late 140 or early 240. Has anyone ever checked to see if they're the same? I know this one came in a 340 marked box with 340 instructions, but that could just be for marketing purposes.

They are different. Whilst the font/dial style is the same as the others you refer to, the faces are different shapes. The 300 series one is most defintely square, unlike the 100/200 series ones which are round most of the perimeter.

Interesting, does this mean that they won't fit though? If they do it might be an easier way to get a rev counter in an early dash than try and find a genuine 300 one.

As far as I can see, they won't fit. On the other hand the guts of one might be useful. TBH, There can't be many MY79-MY82 dashes needing a tachometer. MCHUDD has his. Hell Driver has his. I have mine. Sion likes a clock or a blank. Anyone else here?
