OK then, and who knows, you may even get to chauffeur me along the coast, so I can check the laydeez on the run to the bar.....

Does this mean that the second happening of the event that you sort of invented won't feature any 340 content? :(

Well its been headed in non-300 direction for a while hasnt it!
Might as well go the whole hog and have none at all.

Mine may hopefully be roadworthy for the NEXT episode.
Restore the weak 300 representation.

Sounds like your 340 has the same attitude to well-meant repairs as mine VND. Ungrateful bitches these cars.

I do think in fairness to future searchers of the archive, that this thread title is a bit misleading. Should really remove the Vario bit of title, as that's been as good as gold ;)

True indeed.

Thread title changed to something more appropriate.

You're not alone Ben, I'm sure most of us have made a car-cock-up more than once :? Fingers crossed it gets sorted quickly so you're not without the vario goodness for too long ...

Amongst many, many, others. Been there before on so many occasions, but fortunately a lot less so in my advancing years.

Mistakes are a necessary part of learning. The lesson being on this occasion: VND shouldn't be left in charge of spanners unsupervised.

I reckon it isn't as bad as it sounds and could be sorted in a couple of hours.

Oh yes, now you come to mention that! And you even had me change the oil in that brown kitten before you set off on its final journey, like that would have made a difference.
I'd forgotten about that episode, Rich, but it'll make a good tale for the pub on Saturday night.

John, making sure that the legend of MacPlaxton lives on through folklore, anecdotal evidence and, if all else fails; pure invention. :P

That was probably on the suggestion of yourself Ivan, or was it Mr Hoppy?

Like the time I dozed off listening to the radio at work on my 4 hour split shift. Had the ignition one click too far on live (instead of accessory) and melted the coil supply wire

One recent example of trabitom-daftness is turning up for an MOT in the 343 with a rather oily engine. The reason it was oily? The oil filter was loose. I can get a bit panicky about stripping threads and tend to be over-careful tightening things up.

'Twas your idea mate; you had, in fairness to yourself, been doing some work on one of my cars and were "tired" sm34 so you thrust a gallon of 20w50 and a filter in my direction and said "get out there and do some work for a change, ya lazy ****!"

That washing-up bowl took some scrubbing I can tell you.

I think that Hoppy was upstairs, trying on his Osama Bin Laden costume at the time.....
