Fair play then, thats a hefty increase over standard :D

An electric fan squeezed out a few more bhps too. The claimed power output varied from 118bhp to 123bhp.
foggyjames wrote:My understanding is that there were only 100 "factory" cars, all of which were white 343 GLSs with the blue/yellow stripes, the barely noticeable standard GLS front spoiler (which might be an integral part of the mk1 B19 front panel...?)
The Mk1 DLS/GLS front spoiler is a plastic bolt on part, but IIRC Anjo said the subframe is different.

There's a real mix of R-Sport "factory versions" over the different sales markets. As far as I can tell, these cars were sold in '81 (the last of the Mk1s) and in '82 (Mk2 phase 1). Some were numbered (including Austrian Mk2s) and some weren't (German Mk1s, Belgian Mk2s). So it's not easy to say "one of the 100 R-Sports", as you have to ask one of which batch exactly?

You're lucky in the UK, and Holland, where you don't have to give a hoot about things like that (I'd certainly prefer to own a tidy car with an R-Sport kit added to it compared with a ratty "original" one and certainly wouldn't want to pay a premium for it), but Germany is different. It might be a lot of hard work getting a rusty but original R-Sport restored, but when it comes to getting the car TÜV'd or even "historic plated" you'll save a huge amount of bureaucracy if the car you have is an original one, and not a "pimped" standard car.

I just had a look at the review of the "French R-Sport". It's a Mk2, is called a "Volvo 345 GLS 122ch" and has the engine tuning. The only external differences are Leos and a weird rear spoiler which I've never seen before

It'll be interesting to see for how much this one goes for ...

It's one of the original German special editions, heavily modified (by a Volvo dealer).

Welcome to the forum Laurens :-)

Keep us updated on your progress - superb car! A Mk1 R-Sport: the most desireable 300 of all IMO ...

The R-Sport air box, decals, front spoiler, Zender rear spoiler - all looks great ... Yours is the only R-Sport I've seen that's based on a 345 too.

Cheers

Tom

Holy crap that is awesome! Love the colour, more doors and front spoiler combination. Maybe this is what that Autotrader 345 needs ;)

Tom, any info on the car in the OP? Has it been sold and is the new owner known?
Why didn't you get the tuning parts off of it and left the rest ;)

I've made it known before i'm not a particular fan of Mk1 front ends, however that one has almost changed my mind. I'm not sure what it is, the colour, the wheels, the splitter, all of it together?

I don't know but i like it :D
