It should be a crime to sell them that cheap, oh moment there is not even single one on sale here

Our tax system charged all accessories quite heavily before and so our cars are mostly basic models, so here is not too many 760s at all, there were 7 on sale in whole country as I checked 0 diesels.

You need to sell 7 to get 500 for that one

Same model in here ranges from 1850-4000 euros, yep, no errors there is 0 at the end

Shame that close to you has manual box, that motor would love a proper automatic behind it, 940 turbo diesel has great amount of turbo lag too, but it does not matter with automatic as it pulls constantly, but with manual it is quite annoying as only from 3rd gear on turbo is in game, it takes 1st and 2nd to wake it up

Look, here you go, we fix that in no time, uhm I mean you do

It is quite normal that these heads crack between valves, these motors don't like at all if they are rushed before oil is fully warmed up and also they do need cooling off run. Anyway new head from some other Volvo freak should not cost a ton, gasket is not expensive and it needs only bit of work, then get some diesel guy to get timing and such set and it will be cheap good car for years, also is an auto.

Good opportunity for one with connections and skills, imo. It's only a 100 :D

edit: I see that you can perhaps win that bid with less than 100 pounds. Also now I realise that I have under 100k driven NA D24 which is almost same motor as such, it would be possible to build working motor with combining parts from 240 and that 940, but what a shame it is in UK, otherwise I would of been quite tempted :D

Unbeliveably comfy too.
Better still if you remember the switch (on the side of the gear selector knob) that puts the four speed auto into 4th....
IIRC, these have two known issues; roof cloth that falls off and ATF leaks from the back oil seal on the box, new seal and a Chicago Rawhide sleeve on the propshaft being the cure to the latter. Otherwise, it should be a Ben proof car.

Macplaxton and I owned a 240 with that gearbox, well he owned it then bequeathed it to me, it would often do as much as 20mpg on a good run in 4th, and that was just the transmission fluid, slightly better than that on fuel.....

Congratulations on your buying a car with a real gearbox.

I think the Bins have got a bit angry at being knocked over.
They seem to have ganged up on the 740 a bit......

This was p!shing me off a bit, as rainwater collects in the rubber collar below the filler, so if you try and fill up in the rain, you get a quarter pint of water in the tank.

The plastic securing tabs on the replacement flap I purchased were all snapped, so I Dremeled out lager holes in the mounting frame, big enough to allow the only two bolts I could find in the house to pass through.
Push it on tight, fasten up little nuts fron the inside of the boot, superglue so they dont work loose, and bodge complete.
Only on two bolts from four holes, but seems stable enough.

Is car still guarded by killer wheeler bins and who made that concrete pillar to crack?

Nice bodge, even colour blends in there for some reason

There's nothing more satisfying than a successful bodge :-) Well done ...

Actually, there is, but it seemed like a nice thing to say ...

The 740 is a cool car and is the only one I can think of which was designed by a 10 year old with nothing more than a pencil and a set-square. I've owned two and I almost lived in one of them whilst my divorce was going through.

Shaving in the washer bottle is a bit of a bummer though...

Leaking boot seal would have sorted that out, nice puddle of water in boot after every rain

740 is a lot more aerodynamic than 240, even you could not believe it by loo king at them, in 740 there are some tiny things changed that make big difference in that aspect, so on highway you should get better economy than with 240.
