OK, part 1 (or maybe 0.5 beta

) of getting this car ready for the MOT. It now has a new windscreen, and the a-pillar has been patched.
I picked up a replacement windscreen in the summer. It was an 800km round trip to east Germany (but that's nothing really, picking the doors up from filthyjohn was a 1100 km round trip from London

)
The crack, increasing in length every day:
The borrowed special tool, to remove the window surround trim (the only part I did myself

):
Push the trim connector thingy piece up with a screwdriver:
Slide the special tool underneath the trim, the seal is squashed apart at the same time:
Cracked trim (has been for years, wasn't me!)
Up we go:
Top half done:
... and the bottom half off too:
Then off to the garage, and this is the result:
New window, NOS window seal:
A-pillar. They didn't do a great job of the painting, but never mind:
I actually prefer it "de-chromed" but I have a feeling the trim pushes the seal apart a little, thus giving the window a better fit, so I'd better put it back (maybe one day some black GLT-spec trim will come my way). Would washing up liquid do any harm, to help squash it back into the seal?
Cheers
Tom
