I've a feeling everyone else will be snapping bellhousings too if my theory is right ;)

John, what state were your front/rear engine mounts in? I'm hazarding a guess at good ish up front, shagged rear? And what way was your inlet mani, standard or flipped?

im still trying to get in touch with pete farrell about the diesel conversion he has for a 360.

Ben
Could do, but you'd get 55mpg and 120BHP from a f-type diesel from a kangoo with 340 running gear
im sorley tempted, ive just grown attached to my 360. If i was going to swap for 340 running gear id just get a 340.

f-type diesel? electronc injection or normal mech?

Ben

All wobbly. The rear mounts are an awful design, they should be like the fronts, inclined at 45 degrees and preferably poly. From struggling to fit the prop I'd say the front of the engine is too low, spacing the mounts out or fitting longer ones may be a solution, but the best approach would be adaptor plates and 360 transmissions. :P
Oh and I had carbs, so custom manifold.

But dont the 360 drivelines have that weak piece too? Also... how would you do the engine mounts in a better situation? The best part about that setup is the front only needs 2 mounts and aligns itself with the gearbox. We can't do that easily with a Renault engine :(

Yeah but the weak piece can take 200lbft. With my B200 I could quite happily do 6000rpm clutch dumps at the lights and give it hell all day. Engine mounts could be fabbed to put any engine in a 300, it's really quite easy with a bit of measuring. But if you were going to all the trouble of adaptor plates and custom engine mounts you might as well fit a vauxhall XE or honda K20.
A bit of a dead end really, the F series is still the best swap in terms of bang per buck, so a bit of effort to improve the engine mount situation would be a good idea, and improved ones would sell.

Yeah, pretty much what I've got round to thinking mate. I've sussed out a new design, now I just have to remake the silly pressed tin uprights :( And beef up the subframe before that fractures too

finally managed to get through to the jumped up welsh (no offence dai!) tossers at vosa.

cant fit me in untill the 28th, two weeks for paper work. and they wouldnt accept the card i tried to use. as it wasnt in my name.

im sure they make it as hard as possible.

its funny, i get pulled at a spot check and they will do this test for free, at the side of the road in the pissing rain. Give em a warm work shop and they want paying. c*nts.
