I definitely want one of these, but I wonder if it will work without modification on the standard system (apart from the brake lines inside that is).

360 drums are a fit. And an improvement.

So VND, do you reckon that a 360 drum on the back of my 340 will produce any benefit? And something easier than an axle swap by the sounds of it?

Similar but not quite the same. I'd imagine if you wanted too you could keep it under the bonnet where the standard pixie valve is. Blue book states they can't be within arms reach from memory so a positive on fitting and scruit.

I had a look at the Blue Book today, and it would seem that I can mount the bias valve anywhere.

I've been looking at lots of different options with my brakes. Big disk conversion is out of the window, as all my tyres are 13". Drilled and grooved brake disc is pointless according to some. You guys seem to have no problem with using standard pads.

Which leaves me with one conclusion: leave it alone

There is braided lines I suppose. And then the whole hydraulic handbrake and bias valve setup.

You guys got any other suggestions or pointers? Opinions always welcome

Get good pads and fresh fluid on there, I have goodrich lines as well. I run either Mintex or Ferrodo pads, stock discs and change fluid every 6ish months. My 15"s with Bridgestone RE720's on would stop the car in just under half the distance that the 13's I had with Avon CR322's, and still I couldn't cook the brakes on the hampshire stuff I was doing.

They'd get hot, smoke, glow, but not fade

I've been eyeing up the goodrich lines, but do you reckon they're worth it at £50 a set?

Can you recommend a place to get the pads from? Are you talking about DS2500 or M1144 pads? Or more OEM jobbies?

I've not run DS2500's, I normally run Ferodo Premier's (hang on... box of spares on the shelf says they are part number FDB175) 1144's I've had once, and certainly liked them but can't justify the price, I couldn't really notice them compared to the Ferodo's and they are 3 times the price.

Tbf, I've had some real crap from factors, but anything that seems cost more than a tenner a set and has a decent make on it has been good

VND just reminded me I hadn't posted in a while!

Done 7 rallies this year I think, maybe 6. Finished all but one. Had clutch issues on that one thanks to some overzealous driving matched with even worse reversing

Car has one more event next weekend (the Illuminations). After that, it is off the road until January. Hoping to get an entry in for the Carpetbagger then: a proper Road Rally (180 miles with two fuel halts).

Bought a few juicy bits for the car. A nice Safety Devices Cage, some new seats and some new belts. Pictures to follow!

Already in hand . Got some lovely PIAA 80 Series Lamps. Just need some nice brackets making up so I don't have to modify the bonnet opening or use lamp steadies. Want something similar to this, but obviously for a 340 bumper rather than an escort :
