Jesus that is cheap.

Yup, it's currently faster than Fake by a hundreth ;) FWIW, if you ignore the paperwork, it's faster than me as it has a better exhaust system on it. The pinking needs to be cured (I have data logs from the weekend from this car) really as someone who doesn't know what they are doing could get into trouble, but I'd put money the slightly thirstier map might sort that.

Still, stunning for that money.

Well, when I added up everything that I've actually spent on the car, it's only a couple of hundred more than this. (Not counting service items, tyres and fuel). I've rarely seen valvers go for more than this. Seems only fair to ask for what I put in. It has a couple of problems which devalue it somewhat.

And yes, it is currently the fastest NA 340 in the world. Possibly even the fastest NA Volvo.

I think an S80 V8 AWD would have something to say about that bold claim ;)

Seems like a very fair price. The car is tidy enough, and drives nicely. Good luck with the sale...and don't be a stranger. Plenty of us know a thing or two about 2/7/900s :)

FWIW the turning circle on a D5 is only rubbish if you get one with big wheels. Mine has 16s and the lock is pretty good, to be fair. Like the P1s (850/gen1 x70), they put different stops on the rack depending on wheel width. P1 C70s with 18s are a nightmare, whereas my P2 V70 D5 with the 16s is more or less what you'd expect for FWD. I'd probably get a P1 V70 with the Audi 5-pot though...better value. I only got a P2 because I'd had P1s since 2007 and fancied a change.

cheers

James

Speedy88 wrote:But saloons are just so much nicer!

I've even thought about converting the saloon to something more spacious (easy option being take the rear seat out). But there's other things too that wouldn't work in mine, such as fitting a massive LPG tank in the back. Big estate has this option as well as being able to lug stuff/still able to sleep in.

300s are near on the perfect car, but I still want to experience something different.
Do as Chris says and get a 360 5dr shell.

Then you have a spare wheel well in the boot for the LPG tank and the hatchback for lugging stuff.

I'd go for a late 900 turbo... even though they're dated, I think you'll find them to be more reliable than any S/V70 P1 or P2. Plus they're stupidly cheap at the moment, you'll get a good late 940 for £500-700, they do feel better built, no kickback through the steering over bumps/fwd power, loads of space, easy to tune to a certain point. Just do something with that suspension though(!). All for less than a 300 series at the moment.

However, my money would be on a Lexus LS400 with LPG 8)

Im with Steve.

Post 97 940 is on my wishlist for sometime in the future. Awesome cars. Just shut your eyes when youre putting petrol in. Frequently.
You could always save money by living in it of course. Pop the rent you save in the tank.

Or you could get a 940 with a D24TIC...and then you can shut your eyes when putting in new engines, rather than petrol...

A petrol one with a multi-point LPG kit is probably a better idea, to be fair.

Is it grey? Best colour for a 700.

Ahhh the one on RR... unfortunately it doesn't have the earlier front end (pre 1990), and itll have the M4x gearbox as opposed to the M90 :( Personally my money would be on a 940 with a better 'box and better engine (bar the cam/head combo)

Only real pain in the ass job is the heater matrix going :(

As for fuel economy - no worse than a 360 injection, infact marginally better in my experience - with a fair bit more power :)
