Oh crap, that does suck big time :(

Now there is no good way to gain some extra points from gf by taking her to restaurant along the road either, hopefully there will be soon new one on sale, maybe enough good distance to exploit 'holiday' theme as that really is nice plan :D

Jani, I went to Fake today and she has mould growing over the steering wheel too :? No where else I could see.

VND, I think you are well clear tbh bud, that thing looks like a money pit to me. Picture 8 of 10 shows some bloody scary rust around the B pillar, which is very close to the seat belt mount. If it's gone on the outer there, I'll put money on it going on the silly little L section that connects the bottom sill to the floor and the seat base. The rear of the sill you can see feathering meaning the jacking points are about to split and it needs (long term, for prettyness only) a new wheel arch. Sill on pic 2 showing passenger side looks just as frilly, rusty sunroof means it's not long until it leaks.

It's not often I'm put off a car, but thats not for the faint hearted. Do we know who Michael is?

Plus it's a saloon.

With soap and also after pee and before doing anything with food stuff etc. I have been taught not put fingers to mouth when doing stuff outside too

I have even cleaned steering wheel before car was left to sit, but still grows, funny thing is that it starts when winter comes, ie. when temps are freezing or close to it.

Typical basic requirements for mold are damp air and limited amount of light, it can be months when I don't visit the garage, so there is quite little of light.

Now I did put cover on garage floor as it is about two inch thick concrete floor on top of soil and there is nothing at surface, so there can be some damp coming trough floor, however door is such that air is moving quite freely from all the gaps in there, which makes garage to dry up too quite well, at least in theory.

It is interesting that Chris and I have the issue, I think we both have experienced this before too? Maybe there is something in material what steering wheel is made that encourages growth of mold.

There is issue with my car clearly, petrol is disappearing from carburettor and good part of fuel lines over the night, I guess it is a fuel pump then?

Will need new choke cable and part that attach cable to carb body too, more to hunt that is sm1

My theory on it is that we both lay up our cars more than most on here? In my mind, we always have bacteria on our hands no matter how much they are washed, and the steering wheel is the most handled part of the car so gets transfered. Day to day use you are constantly touching the wheel, rubbing it, knocking off any small build up that occurs but also laying down more bacteria.

Then, when the car sits, air inside the car is still, a bit damp and the perfect place to harbour growth. I'm sure if I left the corset over winter rather than over summer it'd do the same.

Yes, I have had the problem before, with a different steering wheel. Amusingly, that steering wheel also started to grow in a damp cupboard in my old flat (grrr, horrible old damp flat)
