variomatic = oddball automatic

we also had a 4spd gearbox as well as 5spd, and lots of engine choices - 1.4, 1.7. 2.0, 2.0 injection and 1.6 diesel. 3, 4, 5 door or van :)

As far as I know, 360s were never anything other than 5 speed. Strictly speaking, the UK never got the Diesel (thank god - what a dog!) or Van (which was just a 5 door with metal panels for rear windows?!). I fancy putting the 1.9 440 turbo diesel in a 340 - it looks just like a D16 (and in turn just like a B172), and wouldn't be a total slug!

im surprised no-one here brought that 2.0l tdi 360 on fleabay - would have been nice to play with :) the 440 diesel is utter crap by all accounts thou

we didnt get the van or the diesel here (why was the van 5door, not 3door??). i dont think we ever got a 4spd 360, but holland might have had a 2.0l 340 in 4speed??

True, but I am suspicious that the Nissan TD engine would be even worse! Even the seller (one of my parts guys) said he wouldn't bother with it! I was thinking the 440 TD motor would at least be vaugely authentic.

well if people are interested, might be able to work out some a/c kits. you would need the compressor,condensor,pipes and hoses,relay loom,airbox with evaperator and compressor braket. alot of stuff. why dont people just throw a 240 b230 motor into there 360's? they fit straight in. put a H cam in, weld the diff and that equals "lots of donuts".thats the main weapon of choice here in australia.114Kw(155hp) motor into a car that weghs sweet all, your gonna be happy.but then you just put in a B230 turbo motor with 16valve head running 25pound of boost. guarenteed a 12sec car! 8)

I'd be up for that...could you give a ball-park cost? Shipping would be killer I guess...

Insurance is the problem...I'll be picking up a B230ET soon, but I can't fit it, as it'll cost me over £2000 (US$3500?...Not sure in AUS) to insure it!

Trouble here is that they go over the car with a magnifying glass if you make a big claim...if they find a big turbo bolted on...

Well I'd want my kit shipped to the UK. Let us know a ball-park figure :)

About the AirCon, just to let you know:

The components are different for LHD and RHD models. They are also different for B200E and B200K models. The kit is (and was) only available for B200K & B200E, 86 onwards and the car must have a recirculation switch.

Feck arf, schlag! I have the kit :-P

That's a VERY good point - the heater matrix casing jobbie will be back to front in a LHD model. BUMMER. Oh well, was a nice plan...and its been so hot for the last couple of days I could really have used it! I'll just have to keep working on my 'chum' with AC....although he's only just spent £550 on making it work :shock:

i dont personally like aircon, it makes air too dry imo. not too mention the power sappingness. just open the windows, and send me that gauge, wanna see how hot it is ;)

(kiddin, im not in a hurry)

Oh yeah...my gauge topped 35 degrees today! I'm not sure the air could get any drier at the moment! I got that trim out complete by breaking the screen...but it was a total 'stard of a job, and I have plenty of blood on my hands to prove it!!
