Drive a long journey and then feel the gearbox/back axel. You will be suprised how hot they get.

I'd say 90-100 at the wheels for a GLT in good shape. Husky will have to tell you what I was getting at the wheels (only seen from behind the car), but IIRC he said the wheel figure was what he expected the crank figure to be, which was ~115bhp.

lol - revs out far cleaner and certainly feel quicker!
i'm looking at getting closer to 65rwkw on teh dyno as it is - which is 20kw higher than last reading!!!
any less than that and i'll be disappointed!

Well it sounds like your B200 was knackered in some way, and this is a 140bhp engine...so I'd bloody well hope it feels faster!
cheers

Transmition losses on a chassis dyno are mostly down to the rolling resistance in the tyres, especialy on dynos with two rollers, as you have two contact patches and you are distorting the tyres in two places at once, inflating the tyres to very high pressures dramaticaly reduces transmission losses. james's car makes 110 ish at the wheels, 140 at the flywheel, my car makes 158 bhp at the wheels, which was 202 bhp at the flywheel, which helps show that the losses through the transmition also increase if you make more power, (more heat/ friction in the box, more distortion of the tyres etc) hence a low powered car such as my beetle when it had the stock 1200 engine showed 30 bhp at the wheels and about 38 at the crank!

That makes alot of sense Iain about the tyres, I can see how the resistance is doubled. Nice figures for you tyrbo lump.

HI CAM
I have just put my 360 on the dyno. I managed 104 hp or 78 kw. this was from about 3.5k rpm to 5.5 and then it started dropping off. It will be interesting to see how yours compares with the upgrade.
see ya later.
