and to top it off IT PASSED THE MOT TODAY
It's a special edition then, there was a scan of the brochure for it somewhere, I *think* it was this one but can't be sure, I could well be wrong.

Econ gauge is inlet manifold vacuum (super useful for diagnosing) and the top right gauge is external air temperature, bottom right is engine coolant.
Great news on the MOT. FWIW, if you would find another car interesting, it'll be worth more to you than you'll get for it I'd expect.

That's the one, Chris. Non-300-nerds, stop reading here.
I've got two types of UK brochure for the 340 GL Special Edition, showing the same car, except the (VDO) econometer design is different.
"Special" stuff:
Central locking
Coachstripe
Chrome wheel trims
Plush upholstery
Economy gauge
Ambient temperature gauge
Electric front windows
Metallic paint - Arctic Blue Metallic (unique to the 340 GL Special Edition) or Silver Grey Metallic
"To celebrate the introduction of this unique car, Volvo commissioned
Guy Gladwell to produce an original oil painting. Every new owner will receive a print of this painting".
So have a look in the boot, maybe there's an original Gladwell there too
Cheers
Tom

That'll be H-C for the engine temp
deg C for the outside ambient temp

Thanks for your comments guys....Well bad news my boss was winding me up the volvo didnt pass the mot, (Not as funny as he thinks he is, i certainly wasnt laughing).
Anyway said it has to be gone by next Friday, unfortunately im skint at the moment and cant afford to buy it and do the work.
I really want to find a home for this car guys someone who will look after it.
The boss wants £200 for the car + it owes me mot money and a battery + work ive done to it, so Does anyone wanna give the car a home for £300.
it only failed on 4 small bits of welding around the rear suspension, il upload the fail sheet tomorrow.
As you can see its a special addition with all the extra listed above.
Well heres some better pics.

It's probably a good idea to upload pics of the areas needing welding too...
Before someone just goes and gives you scrap money, it might be an idea sellling it in parts if you have the time. The instrument cluster (including the temp sensor near the battery, and the brass inlet manifold tapping for the extra gauges) and the electric window setup including the switch panel should be worth a few pennies, particularly if you put it up on ebay, take some nice pics, and offer to post europe-wide ...
Would be a pity of course!
Cheers

Agreed about pics of the areas which need welding.
Extra gauges but no rev counter...what were the Dutch smoking?
Whereabouts are you located? That's a big issue for a non-roadworthy car.

To be honist guys im not going to break it, its not my car or my money so it will just go to the scrappy...what a shame.
i jacked it up and tryed to find where the welding was needed, but i couldnt spot it and im used to rotten cars as i kept renault 5 gt turbos for the last few years.
This car looks very solid to me, there must be a small hole granted but its not major as like i say i couldnt find it.

If nothing else, you should rob the gauges before it gets scrapped - the extra ones are worth a few quid.
Hopefully someone can give it a home. You'd get your money back, even paying someone to weld it.
cheers
