Did you guys ever get 10:1 compression ratio 360's?
According to manual, mine should be one, but it is with y-cam, which is not terrible good, but with K-cam and MS controlling ignition + bit lighter flywheel, it starts to work as a proper motor.
But car does weight too much, also fuel economy could be lot better with smaller motor, when attempting to beat mpg records

Where did it all go, sir?
The.. cap that screws into the middle of the bottom half of the carb - was loose, 3 threads showing-loose, fully loose. When you pressed the gas fuel spilled out of here and ran down various places instead of being squirted into the top of the venturi.
Also cleaned mating faces of all pieces of the carb/cooler. Before putting back together with the gasket impregnated with gasket sealant, for time being until I get the gasket.
The spitting was the exhaust manifold gasket, have rubbed exhaust putty into the gap for now, gasket set on its way as we speak.
It was a bit zebedee for the first ten miles after doing the carb, now it's completely fine. Fuel economy has improved as far as I can tell. One dent removed from bonnet. Bought an armload of sundries.
Not touched the gearchange yet...
I'm constantly finding things right with it

Where the hell does the 1.4 get that torque from, I could handle a really intricate answer that does in fact pinpoint that spooky torque.

Wasn't it the mainstay engine in another car of your acquaintance and thus highly optimised by the manufacturer in terms of power to weight ratio?

That reno5 had the 1.1, it wasn't the steadiest idling engine I've ever seen, but it was chirpy enough, if you floored it everywhere it was still economical as hell and kept up on the motorway, holding 85mph, it did weigh 656kg..
The video is a fair representation of my driving

. Does the cassette player work as you know?

I am truly amazed! I will study all this carefully when I'm at a proper computer (not just this old Nokia) but it sounds as though you have done more in 3 days than all those garages and other professionals did in the 16 years I owned it... Anyhow, during that time I never used the cassette player so I honestly don't know whether it works or not. Gearbox sorted *weep* you saw that receipt from Mr Clutch which almost did make me weep back in '98 when they tried to do the same thing!
Bests for now, Jon.C.

I thought they'd actually do *something* to if for that much. Jeepers!
I would like a little chat with this garage, I just shaved a bit off the plastic stopper that goes against the gate, like 2mm - with a serrated knife, done. Synchro in 2nd isn't the best synchro in the box, but it's certainly not bad by any measure, box works in a serviceable fashion, linkage may want tightening but gear selection is as it should be now.
I did the box after that drive BTW.
Given it a wash and wax now, thrown banana essence all over it, smells as good as it drives
