No, I don't know anything about working on these! I've heard about the oil though. It accelerates ok but there is just a slight 1/2 a second delay when accelerating from for example 60 to 70. I need to check up on the oil (same on green GLS too!).

Unscrew black knurled knob on top of the carb and remove the dipstick. If the oil level isn't as it should be add a few drops of ATF down the tube and check again. If the oil keeps disappearing then the diaphragm is split.

Thanks for that, just looked at the manual to see whats involved, will have a look tomorrow.
I was also impressed with the fuel consumption I got going to the B.K.V. in June, 35 m.p.g. and that was going fairly quickly on the way down. Best I've had with the green GLS was about 33 driving carefully, I expect that may be due to it needing a tune up (not electronic ignition) or maybe it's just not as efficient, being mechanical?

I really do enjoy my GLS. Ok, it's not the B19 but it's fairly close. Diff ratio and heavy flywheel combo make the 360 into more of a cruising car. I'm very much a fan! Keep this one on the road dude

I checked the oil level in the carb last night and topped to to reqired level, it was a little low (more that the reqired 18mm resistance level). Went out for a spin this evening. Feels fine but won't really notice any difference untill going at motorway speeds as that was when I noticed the very slight delay in acceleration. Maybe I'm just being over-critical! The engine revs up straight away at lower speeds/lower gears. What I'm noticing is not what I'd call hesitation, just a slight delay before the speed seams to pick up.
After adding the oil I noticed the idle speed dropped so it would hardly idle. I adjusted the bolt which touches the choke lever (as directed to in haynes) to bring it back up. This bolt was not making contact with the lever and had a gap of a few mm. I looked at bolt on the carb on the green 360 which as far as I know is correct. This one does make contact with the choke lever,
I've got the back bumper off tonight ready to put the towbar on. Most of it's straight forward, but totally different to the 340. This one fixes between the bumper and back panel, the 340 one goes under the back of the car.
I'm assuming the short section of angle iron fixes across the underside of the wheel well after being bolted on to the part which runs from the back of the car holding the actual tow ball?

I'm just putting on the towbar, all going ok but a question for anyone with a 360 towbar fitted:
Do the 3 big washers go inside the boot (spare wheel well) in order to strengthen the fitting against the floor?
OR
Do they go UNDER the car between the angle iron and the floor to level up the otherwise unlevel surface (thus to avoid distorting the floor when the bolts are pulled tight?

Just to confuse everyone I'll do a quick update for this car (nearly two years late!) as well as VFW.
I did actually get the towbar fitted and we made to Norfolk on our annual pilgrimage (2013)!
For the benefit of anyone wanting to know about fitting towbars on 360s I'll put the rest of the photos up.
I decided to put the washers on top after all! I fitted a charging relay and indicator buzzer. I had to chip off some sound deadening and bend one of the washers in a vice to get a good solid fit. The bumper bolts were a total pain to refit with the towbar on but I got it all together just in time for the trip. Normally I would paint everything like this I don't intend removing again but it kind of fits this car, far from concourse but "authentic" as someone called it at the V.O.C. one time!
All went smoothly and the trip was a great success for our first year in a 360 towing. Much better than the GL (VFW). More power and torque, stiffer rear springs (I think) and more weight. It all made for a more relaxed journey and my first time towing where you actually have to hold back on the throttle so as to not go too fast!
On the return journey the down pipe blew out a spot of weld which some cunning mechanic had placed there to fill a hole, probably decades ago. This just made us even more a eyebrow raiser as we bombed back up the A1 overtaking other caravaners with thier new 4x4s for once!

My B19 got a worn needle after about 130k miles, it wasn't designed for unleaded and wore into a banana shape. Mainly was just running too rich. Hesitation is usually weak ignition but I guess could be a temporary weak mixture.

The awesomeness lives on. Currently awaiting repair panels for mine to get it through the MOT. The poor garage man has been saying "Its getting very rusty now, Mr Cooper" with that familiar ring to it. Have you seen a 440 lately? I've not seen one for a good 2-3 years round here. I see more 340's.

I know of about 4 440's and 2 480's near me.

Yes, XKW is getting a bit rusty now, although important bits were done for a couple of M.O.T.s and it hasn't really got worse since I bought it (Actually it's
better!). It's crusty round the edges and a bad bit under the battery tray. Would benefit from 2 new wings to be honest and a good tidy up. M.O.T. exemption is looming in a few years

, not that that's an excuse for leaving it. I'd rather it go into that stage having recently been brought up to scratch and M.O.T.ed. I'm not sure if I might sell it at some stage, I think it's future would be more secure if I wait until it hits 40 years, when someone could drive it while restoring and it might be worth a little more! At the moment I'm sure it would be trashed. Realistically I have too many projects!
I have a 440 turbo, seen a blue 440 today, local car is see a bit.

Great the 440 lives on.
