Hi Freerck,

yes I remember :-) I still have our messages (from 2008?) on the V3C board somewhere.

I still have the green 360 GLT with PAS, I'll be doing some work on it next week ...

Cheers

Tom

Finally an appointment for a new MOT!
Next week we'll drive in (after 10 years) on it's on power to the shop.
I've been driving around in the neighbourhood, but only to check a systems and to tune up the engine somewhat.
Some electrics did not quite function correctly, but with a little fiddling :)
AND give it a good clean (dusty garage..) on the hottest Saturday (36°C) so it kept us cool as well:

The new style liscense plates will be replaced after MOT, to the original light blue with the smaller font, will fit some mudgards and the black hub caps. The tankmeter is not working because the original tank with Smiths level sensor was broken and fitted a 80's tank with the newer VDO level sensor instead. Will fix that later, I'm sure.
I also need a trunk (or boot?) mat, will do a DIY cut on a suitable piece of carpet, it's for noise reduction, I know.
And then lot's of enjoying driving this nice piece:

Wow, brilliant. Looking great, and it must be amazing to have it driving again :)

Good luck with the MOT.

I can only dream mine will look like that one day!

I think I have a fuel level sensor for Smiths gauges somewhere in my garage if you need it...

MOT! on July 29th at 16:13!
I've been on holidays last 2½ week and meanwhile my mechanic picked up the Volvo at my place and tested it thourougly..
A few issues, but he repaired it easily: rear brakes and washer didn't function, the first had to be adjusted and bleed once again, the latter the blocking valve was blocking either way, so he dicarded that.
Taxed it yesterday and drove today som 100 km; even on the motorway, I pushed 120 km/h easily.
Some minor problems occured: brake pedal is very low and doesn't respond quite catchy as is should + the front brakes juddder(?) quite annoyingly. So I will overhaul the master cylinder and check the brake pads and chamfer the edges a bit.
The Vario is not shifting up as much as should, maybe the control valve is adjusted to low, it holds some vacuum anyway (installed a vacuum meter for now) but not quite enough.
Mounting the correct liscense plates, mudflaps and a boot (or trunk?) mat, spare wheel and jack and so on, the tinkering is not ended yet :)

Took almost 9½ years to restore it...
Fuel sender I've got, need an fuel tank itself (or check if the VDO sensor has roughly the same restistance values as the VDO unit)
The latter seems more easier :)

fuel sender doesn't have the same values, have the same problem with my '84 340 winner (Smith clockset, later VDO sender and fuel tank, but should be older style Smith sender) and also the fuel tanks after '80 are different; shorter breather pipe that was introduced because of the overflow tank in the boot.

Now that is some handy information! Thanks!
I've fitted a later fuel tank, since the mentioned breather pipe was broken of the Original tank (which was in a poor state anyway)
Fitting was no problem, some longer hoses used and on.

I'll try the VDO sender anyway, as long as it is pointing "Empty" when some 5 litres of fuel are left in the tank, I would be satisfied... Meanwhile I look for an Original (new?) tank.

Definitely!
It was a nice experience after so many years behind the wheel of a 3-series. It must have been February 2008 when I sold my '88 360 GL Injection PAS.
I hope to solve all issues soon, and then enjoy the "green one" :D

Finally spared some time to fix the front brakes:

Nicely ground NOS discs (a bit of surface rust :( ) but not too bad.
Thanks to RJ for the tips during VKB! 0,15 - 0.2 mm of warp is too much.
Further drove around a bit, just for fun since she will go into the storage on Saturday...

An image a bit enhanced:

The computer program thing calls it "1977"... well, it does look like it!

Also the 40 year old girl had a nice milestone:

60K genuine km's. :)

Nice work Freerk.
I am glad to see that she is roadworthy now.
Will you be pursueing the Blue&White plates now? I suspect that she would still be eligible for them.

I will have to add the pics to my photo archive :D .

Great car! Yes, I think now is the best time for storage ;-) It's getting very damp and cold ...
