I know you get cheap tax as well, but either the 1.7 or the 2.0 is significantly faster than the 1.4, and the insurance isn't much more. I paid £700 for my first year on my 360...aged 20, with no NCB, in a city centre.
There are also a number of alterations you can make to the 360's B200 engine cheaply and easily without there being any indication that you've touched it...from fitting a performance cam to dropping in a 2.3 litre 140bhp lump!
