Both heated seat switches can be put into another location. I have 'em in the two holes behind gear stick. 240-series switches w right symbol fit there. Also seen those square switches on 360s.

Hmm... yes, that is a damn good idea340GLT wrote:Why not do it a diff way Steve have the windows switches the same as the fronts but use the middle lockout switch from a 400 to select the source?

I was planning this one, but I have run out of orig switch locations completely now
I do like the idea of lockout choosing between either heated of window, problem is the heated switches are on/off, where as the windows are rockers, so either you can't get the windows back up (and risk burnout if you leave them locked on the way down) or having to hold onto the window switch for heated seats
One option is to wire in permant heats seats as per pre 85 (iirc) cars (easy job) and they still will go off because of the thermostat, or you could have one window switch, and one heated switch, and just double sides, so one switch does both sides.
EDIT: Ahh, just read adams post properly.... use the front switches to control front and rear windows.... even better idea, I'll go and learn to read

Well, in a scrappy local to me are three 1.7 340 GL's on G plates, all with electric mirrors, and all in blue! Anyway, I asked how much for the mirrors, £35 was his answer, which I think he actually meant one mirror, not a pair! When I heard £35 I left! But if you are desperate, and are willing to pay £35, hopefully for a pair, and then the courier charge, I can see what I can do.Tero Huikko wrote:up up
Can't be this difficult to get leccy mirrors?

Are the mirrors blue? Or standard non-body coloured ones? If they're non-body and £35 for a pair I might be interested toopetefarrell360 wrote:Well, in a scrappy local to me are three 1.7 340 GL's on G plates, all with electric mirrors, and all in blue! Nah sorry, it wasn't too clear, I thought about it as I was writing it, all blue cars, standard black plastic mirrors. I can probably get the switch gear too, or at least the little mirror switches, wiring I won't though, but I'll get the plugs and as much as I can from the mirror end. Let me know. Cheers.

I am interested (and desperate). I have the center panel with both leccy window and mirror switches, but no plugs or wiring. Wiring is not the hard part but plugs are.
Tell me what you can find and we'll talk about the price and shipping etc.
PS. Thanks a lot

No problem! Well, the other day when I was there, I know that I'd be able to get the plugs, for the mirrors, the mirrors, and the plugs for the switches if you need those as well. So, provided they haven't gone, quite unlikey, then I should be able to get the lot. Provided I don't speak to the same bloke, I might be able to get them cheaper, especially if I take two sets, but who know's how their minds work! Who else is gonna buy them!? It's a bit of a specialist market, they're sat there doing nothing. So, provided shipping is reasonable, I'll see what I can do.

Ok, just to make sure I wouldn't be getting into anything that my car just won't do I better check.
My car has always had manual windows, so it has absolutely nothing (switches etc.) needed to run them. Would you be able to get everything (the windows, switches, any magical gismos that may be needed to run them) apart from the wiring itself?
If you could and they aren't going to try to fleece me for £70 for the pair I could very well go for it

By windows, if you mean an electric window upgrade, that'd be a lot more effort and cost, but with regards to just electric mirrors, a set of switches, the actual mirrors contain the motors, heating elements etc within them, but wiring them up is the trickiest thing, as randomhero found, unless you have an original loom to plug and play, which if your car hasn't got the electric extras, it won't have the loom. Threading wires through the doors isn't easy so I'm told, especially if they have the plugs on them. I can grab the switch panel, that providing you have a Mk3 will just drop into the centre slot behind the handbrake, or you swap the switches into your own panel by removing the blanking plates. I'll get the plugs that fit the switches, and a length of wire from them, then the same the other end, so you should be able to mate the two up. I believe Adam (340GLT) had a wiring diagram he has posted for randomhero, which would help in wiring them in. It's not a job I've ever attempted, as they've been factory fitted kit on the 300's I've owned. Let me know what you think, and how confident you feel on the wiring side of things.

Pete you're a god or at least something divine
Try to find a nice pair of leccy mirrors for me and I'll paypal you then. I'm sure we can agree on the price for your trouble and delivery costs. Oh, and I need the plugs for the switches too...
...for leccy windows...besides the motors and switches there is just one relay (very basic cheap relay) and wires. Not too hard to get working, not too hard at all.
And to get wires through the rubber loom is quite easy too. Soap up a 15cm piece of basic garden hose from outside, push it through slowly by rolling it. Now you have a nice 'canal' to get wires through with or without plugs (one at a time tho). When done pull the hose through with pliers and slice the hose in half and throw it away.

LOL! Well, that's the first and probably last time anyone has said that!Tero Huikko wrote:Pete you're a god or at least something divine![]()
Good advice on the feeding wires!
I may.....only may be heading out in the direction of the scrapyard tomorrow, depends on if a delivery turns up in the morning or not for work! If so I'll get two sets if I can, then if both yourself and ChrisW want them, all is well.
I know when Ari sent me a package of snowcaps from Finland, which were in all fairness quite light but big, it wasn't cheap, so I'm quite sure I can make a small parcel for the mirrors, but they're are fairly heavy. I've got an electric mirror I can weigh if I get chance to guestimate a weight for the package, then that should give you a better idea of the postage cost.
I'll keep you updated.
