i think your best (cheapest) bet might be to find a car in the same colour with problems elsewhere and nick all the relevant parts off that..

by the way, do you realise you can force the guy's insurance to pay for all repairs?

I say fix it Dai had a hard time (no puns please!) convincing me with driving my car and now I wouldn't change it. Your wife will appreciate this effort trust me i'm a woman and know where she's coming from!!
Anyways good luck with the decision!!

Yes I do, however the Insurance Company are playing hard to get and the driver at fault has dissapeared off the face of the planet sm2

I don't have enough room in the garage for the car and it has been vandalised while stting (twice), which so far has forced me into buying a replacement tailgate sm38

Looks like she is staying and I really need to get on with it - and what happens - it snows

So new title for Technical Page

'How to replace a 300 serices front end, with bonus tailgate replacement section - in the snow'

if you have the insurance companies details just do the work, submit bills (including your time, at £30/hour) to them and demand the money.

Aha, now that is interesting : well it has been decided. Time to break out the welder - found a donor car (green unfortunately so additional painting will be required).

On the upside I managed to locate an original unused front valance  so the rot problem of a replacement is long gone.

I'll try to take as many pics as possible and do a write up as my contribution to the 'how to' section of the forum.

Wish ne luck folks

Not sure, but I might put in first dibs if it's going to go, and being broken. I seem to remember someone wanting it though :(

Mick.... Can you confirm the colour code on it?
