I did not fit another head, because it was cheaper to change the whole engine. (no need to buy new gaskets etc)

the engine came from a donor car, it would have been thrown away after dismantling of the interior&good body panels.


about your engine;

- does the coolant stay at its level?
- does the oil stay at its level?
- mayonaise on the oil filler cap is normal after coldstart. some whiteish deposits (not loads of it), thats nothing to worry about.
- do indeed flush the coolant system a few times with clear water. run it with only a bit of coolant mixed. check if the black substance appears again. if so, and floating, and oily... change gasket... or engine
If you open it up, check for pitting. otherwise, dont worry about it. (if it idles on 4 cilinders, unlikely to give trouble)
