Blueline...
Hmm, mine has a blue coachline down each side. Does that count?

the 1.7 uses 2 types of cambelt...early and late
early 1.7s had a metal cambelt cover
later 1.7s had a plastic cam cover
the change was about 88-89
the belt adjustment is different on the early and late 1s
hence that is why you need the later belt for your 1.7
german and sweedish stock them hope this clears up your problem

up to engine number 51891 the belt is supposed to be volvo #3342103-3.

as of engine number 51892 the belt is much longer and is Volvo numbered #3343720-3

you can find the engine identification plate right between the oil filter and flywheel housing.

PS you could also visit a renault dealership for this belt.

Hint; buy a kit, with the tensioner and the roller included!

If I am correct the early belt is fitted to engines with a 3nut rocker cover and the late belt is on engines with the 6 nut cover.
And dont forget the 460 2ltr uses a different belt again.

A big thankyou to everyone who offered help :D
I sorted it this morning!

It turned out to be the 125 tooth belt that I needed.

I hadn't realised quite how tight it fits, and thought that the belt that I had bought was too short, coupled with a bad count of the teeth on the existing belt!

Thanks again to all,

Jim
