That's no urban myth-I've seen what they do fibreglass bonnets on highly tuned chevette hsr's :shock:

Well I'm sure it does happen, but it's nothing like as bad as people make out.

What sort of 'proper airbox' are you planning to use Carl? I don't see how sock filters are any worse than an airbox....they've both got to have an inlet!

Yeah but sock filter have a much bigger surface area open to nasty things. You should see the state of my engine bay after an event - it looks like a ploughed field!!

I'll figure the airbox out when the car's up and running with the carbs (knowing me, a long time away yet!!)
