It is possible to mod the manifold but you need someone who can weld aly for you to do it. If you use the same manifold as on Vicky's car then all you need do is play with the pipe work.

Has anyone found an easy way to do the exhaust manifold yet? I'm thinking of getting one customed from a load of 90's... should then be vaguely better flowed as well, all equal length and if done right equal bendyness, but if there is an easier way...!

This is from memory so forgive me if this is wrong or doesn't make sense, but I think Husky cut off the downpipe end and turbo flange and blanked them off, then welded them onto the other end.

He definitely did exactly that on the inlet side but I can't quite remember what he did on the exhaust side. :?

I think he just turned the flange upside-down on the exhaust side.

Building a tube header isn't a bad idea at all Chris. Take a look at Chris Wiita (The Poi)'s 960 turbo build-up on turbobricks for some inspiration. Find him in the members list, go to his profile, then hit the "threads started by him" link. I'm sure you'll find it pretty quickly. His car is currently the feature car, but that article doesn't give all the info on the manifold build-up.

Also look out for a thread by 'Grebnut' - that one is a B230, so less of a mess, having two fewer runners!

cheers

The poi's 960 turbo is stunning - the level of craftmanship and work gone into that car is just mind blowing. Paddleshift auto anyone?! :D

Ahh, grand stuff, I'll get involved and have a nose at this 960. As its gonna end up being a daily, the less stress I can put on things the better, so to me a flowed manifold seems the way forward. Still, need to get a donor first

But 340cbr wrote that that one needed to be modified too. What is correct?, and which manifold would be the best one to use?

Do you know what would be the best thing for me to do? i'm a bit confused

I'm not sure on this but by the sounds of it there are two different 1.7 inlet manifolds, one you need to cut and weld and the other sounds like you can use just by playing about with the pipework but it depends if you can find that inlet manifold. I'm not sure what model its from though so have to wait for someone else to tell you that

IIRC the inlet manifold that fits will be a pain in the backside, as it's a dual-throttle one like a carb. I'd cut and shut the turbo inlet manifold.
