I think I remember Tim's car being offered for sale. It looked really, really tidy. Sadly, it ended up being parted out...

It was pretty much British Racing Green, and someone had smashed the rear window? I have a few pictures of it on my phone.

Likewise, if you hear of one being available (preferably for peanuts), give me a shout.

I meant the one in Looms' was BRG.

Yes, that's the car I remember from a while back. I'm so sad you've shown me those pics - it looks like exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a bit of a dilemma actually when the time comes. I don't want anything too rusty/bent, as I'm just making work for myself...but I'm planning a fairly radical programme of modifications (especially to the underside) to turn it into an R-Sport spec 343 GLS (i.e. with the 2.0 engine and drivetrain), complete with front splitter, respray in white, and the 'bulge' bonnet for a 2.0...very much like this car...(although looking at the standard bonnet, this was still a B14)

EDIT: Didn't finish my sentence...
....and it seems a shame to tear apart a rare, straight original car. Having said that, I guess if it's that or a trip to the crusher, all claims the purists may have are off! And you know this car is bound to make more visits to 'contemporary' shows and retro events/trackdays than a concourse queen ever would. It will be my pride and joy, no question, but it's there to earn its living mixing it with mk2 Escorts, and reminding the world of the long forgotten dominance of European Rallycross by the mk1 343.

Sorry yes the vovlo in looms was a BRG one and what a shame as i would have loved it, i have no bad feelings of whatever wants to be done to a car as long as it has been saved, if 2000 people watched one 340 go sideways around a race track and loved it then maybe one or two brought one because they thought it was cool then that is good, i love to see standard cars as well preped ones , and i would love one of both

what about doing one of these?

Hot rod 343 or 363?

A 363CS is definitely on my 'to do' list (as the 'other' mk1 performance edition)....if the 'museum' plan ever comes to fruition. The problems with making a 'CS are that a) the B27 sucks, so you'd have to use a B280 for sanity's sake b) the B280 is a bitch to work on in the huge chassis of a 760, never mind a 360's smaller engine bay, c) you'd need to source and mate up the Alfa box.
