I would check the dizzy cap, source of plenty trouble on these cars. Carb is unlikely to prevent starting unless its completely knackered.

Dizzy cap? Could you explain what that is? I don't know all the technical terms in English

Edit: Distributer cap??

Its clearly a fuel problem. Thats for sure. The engine turns over when i put fuel straight into the carb itself.

Ahh, OK, it'll be fuel hoses then, or the pump, but I would check and change ALL the cloth covered fuel hoses, right back from the tank to the pump and to the carb. The cloth covered ones are very thin rubber and perish meaning the pump only draws air and therefore no fuel gets through.

Hope that helps.

hehe, well i'll do that with the MK1 if I install the new engine. For now its just to get to Arnhem (100km from here). The life of the 1.7 will end there.

When i disconnected the fuelline after the fuel pump, the fuel ended up everywhere...so the fuelpump cant be dead.

Found out what it is, the tube that sucks the fuel up thingy (don't know what its called) dropped out, so it didn't suck any fuel...

I drove the car to Arnhem yesterday, and already dismanteld the interior. It fits quite nice in my MK1

Hi every one!

Here's an update. The 340 1.7 is allready to the scrapyard. The total driveline lies in the shed now.

The mk1 has got some maintanence last weekend. Replaced wheelbrakecilinders, and did some other small things. Ive got steel rims on it now. I wrecked one of the rims sm65

A couple of weeks ago I've bought a clio 16v to take apart. But the car was in a lot better shape than i thought it would be(new brakediscs, pads, exhaust and so on...). So I decided to buy another clio(with a "small dent":D), and keep the other clio...

Nice car, rollcage in it, 140bhp :D

The other clio im going to look at next saturday:

The driver got out without a scratch!

Im now busy with designing a loom to fit the 343. I want to make everything ready to drop in. So I'll only have to make the exhaust. And modify the heaterbox when its in the car.(I'll probably find some more prob's...But thats my goal)

Bought it with 13" steelies...

Yesterday I took out the engine...It was hanging on 1 mounting! The other 2 had broken off. No problem though, the one of the gearbox comes of with screws, and the other one didn't damage the engine it self either. I also found out the ECU is probably chipped. It also had a bar between both front shocks (don't know the name) Nice for in my clio...

I got another idea to...But don't know if this would work. The shock in front, if you take the hub (complete with vented discs ;) ) and shock(a lot stiffer, little shorter I think). Then it isn't that hard to make it fit. Only problem is the bearing. Because there isn't a shaft through it (FWD). Dont know if this is a big problem? This probably won't work...But who knows :P

Im looking forward to see both our car finished...:P. Sounds fun to drift around town:P Gijs (other roommate) his mk2 is quite nice btw. Sort of in mint condition!

Clio didn't have gearbox problems by the way. The shiftrod/linkage thingy was positioned wrong. I got all 5 gears and a reverse now!
