Well, with 14 days to vote, I make yesterday the closing date for voting, which would mean that we have the first tie in the V3M photo comp. So, err, what happens now :P

Errr....... well, good question MJ, any ideas? We can have a tie with a joint decision on the next topic, maybe combine two idea? Or we have another voting session with those two pictures, which I don't think is all that fair, as it's relying on someone else voting for one, maybe someone who didn't vote before, and requires everyone who voted before to vote again so that it starts off fair.

Any more ideas....... answers on the proverbial postcard, or a simple post here will do.

Hmm, or the winner of the previous comp, which would be you Pete, could have the final casting vote.

A re-pole with just the tied 2 photos would be the fairest way, but that means another week or 2 of voting before a new comp is started.

Personally I thing tied winners should be left as that, tied winners. As for the decision on the next comp, it could either be a joint decision, or I like your idea of a combination. Say one person suggested reflections and the other suggested 300's In Motion, then you'd have to enter pictures containing 300's In Motion and reflections! An interesting combination. :)

I suggest that both winners send you their idea without discussing it with each other so the combination is revealed as a surprise :)

My suggestion is, make up new subject and those that got tie, should submit new photos, then new voting for those new pics, that would show which one is true master of photography and would be fair to all.

It takes of course some time and is bit more work, but not too much, imo. Would be interesting also to see new pics and also I would think it would give some little extra excitement to competitors too :)

I'm not convinced by that idea Jani I'm afraid. ;) I mean it'll take a fair bit of extra time when other people want to get on with the next round, and the new topic may be far easier or harder for one or other competitor, or one may not be able to enter the tie for one reason or other, and I think it makes it more complicated.

But I agree, yours would be a fairer way of choosing one winner

Some evry good pictures here. I'm impressed.

How about increasing the voting time or everyone to re vote but only with the two pictures.

I for one have missed the voting.

... or just PM both winners & ask who's the most keen to host the next competition?

Otherwise a quick re-vote with only 2 pictures within a week or so sounds like a good idea ...

I'd love to see a tie tbh, seems a shame to have victory snatched from the other guy. Was a great competition, and having 2 winners is a reflection of the quality.

Just do a tie and both winners can jointly come up with an idea for the new comp.

 Nice one Chris.

So if we have two winners I take it they are going to have to work together on the next round. If that is workable I see no reason why not.

So what are we going to do? Pete, do you want to hold another vote on what happens in the event of a tie using the suggestions people have made?

I've been thinking about this one. I'm going to consult both winners privately via PM, with the suggestion that it stays a tie, as really, they have both won, one person should not take victory from the other in this case.

Another vote IMO relies on all people who voted before voting the same way again and voting at all to get the tie, then basically anyone who didn't vote before and does vote decides it. So I'm not keen on that.

I think a joint subject is the best plan, so as you say, in the example of the previous two comps, motion and reflection as one. The only thing would be that it isn't too difficult or hard to compete in and get a picture. It has to be achieveable. But as long as it seems possible, I think we should go with that option. So as I say, PM's on way and if the two people involved send me their ideas I can see if it will work, then go from there!

Right, now that Pete has made an official descision as to the winner(s), will there now be an announcement thread detailing who took what pic?

Indeed there will Rupert! I just wanted confirmation from both parties involved that they'd be happy with this, so far I've only heard back from one.

But I will sort the names out next!
