An Amazon weighs about the same as a 360, so you're left with the same situation - 2.0 8v NA just isn't enough to get 1100kg of car moving quickly. Only at the very top end of NA B20 tuning does it start to get interesting...I'd be looking at +Ting the B20, or swapping in a 16v motor of some description. A T4 lump ought to do the trick for not much £.

cheers

Even worse than that, it's a B18!

but I do have a B230k sitting around doing nowt. The people on the VOC forum seemed to think it was a major ball ache to fit one though. The car is a 1962 121, imported from sweden in 1984. It's far from original condition, but there's very little rust, and it'll become a nice rat rod hopefully.

More info and pics to come.

A twin carb B20 (B20B) makes around 125bhp stock if I remember correctly), so zips along ok....but it goes without saying that you'll need something significantly more serious if you want to annoy Evos ;) To be honest, I'd not go to the trouble of fitting a non-turbo OHC redblock.

A 16v might just be worth it, but the B20s can be made to deliver almost as much power via the same techniques - and the parts are arguably more common, as the prevalance of NA tuning parts for OHC redblocks has been kept down by the existance of (far better cost/benefit) turbo models.

cheers

Stick with the B20 its a beast of an engine.

My old mans amazon was mega quick with the only mod being a full exhaust system. Take the pea shooter off and release a load of power from the B20. Its the most extream power increase form only an exhaust system I've ever known.

If you stick on some good carbs and change the cam to somthing sensible like a K or R conbined with a little head wrok and valves form the injection engine it realy will go like stink

Mine's an 18 though. I reckon 150hp would be enough, as it'll only be used for cruising around. Having said that, I'll probably get bored and want more power later. I'd like to do a swap/tuning work that's already been done, as fitting a totally different engine is something I'm already busy headaching about with the 360.
A turbo redblock would be nice, but if a T5 was around the same amount of work, I'd do it just for the noise.
The amazon came with a full stainless exhaust, but I was gonna sell that and knock up a twin side exit one to spit fire at pedestrians.
Anyone know of any useful information on the web?

Twincam B20, of course it is bit rare, finding 20 original LSD for 300 is going to be childs play compared to finding such motor, but that would be something to put into car of that age.

Nice find, John! I so envy you having all that space to put cars in ;-)

Me - I'm constantly shuffling cars back and forth between other people's gardens / garages / car ports etc ...

Best site for B20 stuff is savarturbo.se but all the stuff at the forum is in Swedish.. :P Those guys there have huuge amounts of info, B20s running 9s in 1/4 etc... re-filled heads and then made new ports, raised intake ports etc.. quite hi-po stuff.

http://amazon.forum.bilia.se Is also a very nice forum because its all OHV stuff. Though also again in Swedish..

This topic is a must see for B20 fan.. lot's of pics so no need to understand the text. ;)

There are currently TWELVE cars in the unit. We're moving to one half the size because it's all we can get in a better area (the crowbar marks on the doors keep getting bigger). Looks like we need rid of several automobiles, and I might need to kick the car-buying habit. After I get rid of my crap metro and get another 340 to take over its daily driver/gravel express duties
