Maybe Im taking my car for granted by not installing an alarm. Kill switches are good but who wants their window to be smashed. Need to have both things IMO

I have 1.5 kilos of Semtex wired to my intrusion car alarm - I figure it's worth the loss of one good 300 to get just one of these mindless little bastards!

300s are relatively hard to steal for their age....both Nessy and my 360 have had unsucessful attacks. Anything without a quality immobiliser is stealable with a brick and a few minutes...

There are some funny scratches on our car on the plastic bit at the bottom of the drivers door glass, just above the lock. No idea how they got there, whether someone did try opening the lock at some point...

I'm more worried about how, when you pull the outside door handle, the whole thing pulls slightly away from the body. I'm guessing a couple screws/bolts are a tad loose.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. If you get the car back you can have that heater motor you wanted, and I have some door glass, a steering column, and whatever else they might have broken nicking it. You can have the lot for free IF you get it back, and IF you decide to keep it.

A possible security solution is a 'DiskLock', they're expensive but very hard to get off - and transferable from car to car of course

I'm with Ronnie, I would love to wire up a few thousand volts of power to the seat and steering wheel that would create instant justice if anyone stole one of my vehicles, infact I was only saying to SteveP the otherday on MSN how I'd actually pay money to see that happen to the thieving scum!

One thing to watch, is that if you find a flat tyre or a broken window on your car or some other damage, or park in one spot all the time, or your car doesn't move for a few days in a row, someone may decide that it is unwanted, not cared for, or is infact abandoned. So if you spot your car has a flat tyre, broken window or some other damage and you're in no rush to sort it, as you may walk, cycle or take public transport or have another car, DON'T IGNORE IT! Do something quickly, like put the spare on, move it, replace the window and make it secure.

It seems as though people are letting a tyre down as a way of telling if a car seems to be in use or cared for. If they come back and it's not moved and still has the damage they caused, they seem to think that they have some right to it, or that they can take it away, as it's not been sorted, so either can't belong to anyone, isn't wanted, isn't cared for etc.

Quite frankly it's taking the p**s. Someone might be on holiday, only use the car very occassionally, work away from home, the list goes on. At the end of the day, every car is owned by someone. So, what right they think they have to take it after their test of some sort to check if it's a car that's cared for or wanted shows a result in their favour I don't know!?

So, beware, it seems as though they are aiming their efforts towards older cars, often for banger racing or for weighing in as scrap. In both instances there are no problems with not having a V5C or proving ownership. They have their fun or get their money and some poor sod loses a car, but according to their test it wasn't wanted anyway.

PS, Any news on the car mate? Have you reported it stolen etc been issued with a crime number and no more will be done unless it turns up on the door step of the Police station or they fall over it? Ring the council and make sure you give them the details of the car, so that if they find the car and as it would be an 'abandoned' vehicle, they just issue it with a notice stuck on the window, then tow it away and crush it if they think it is of no value, sadly this applies to a 300, how dare they make this judgement on anyones property. I would hope they would try and make contact with the last registered keeper, however I don't think they do, probably some stupid privacy law as it isn't the DVLA or the Police.
