I'm not sure what effect this would have but have you tried taking the back plate off. I would have thought doing that would allow more air arround the disc.

I've managed to boil the grease out the front wheel bearings from overheated brakes. The brakes smoked for 10mins+ once I stopped and the wheels were covered in grease! I'm thinking of removing the covers tomorrow when I regrease the bearings. Alloys are the next thing on my list.

Yes, this happens too, I'm using quite little amount of grease because of this, luckily front bearings are not too expensive. Also setting front bearings bit too loose will help them last longer.

Hmm rims might make a difference...I run on 15x7 ET20 alloys.

325i E30 BMW's usually are a lot faster then our dear volvo's. 0.5 liters more, plenty more horsepower and torque, more sophisticated suspension setup and almost the same weight. On our local track they run about 8 to 10 seconds faster / 2.18min lap. Thats just comparing the times of the fastest drivers in the respective 325i and V360 cups. Thats a huge amount of time.
