Whip the prop off, get a glamourous assistant to depress the clutch, and turn the shaft. Observe it very closely...the bend will be slight (if these is one), but obviously it's fairly big deal when the shaft is spinning 100 times per second.

Of course it may not be that....and I don't really have an answer to the timeline question...but it's worth a try!

cheers

The otehr possible is the bearing on the bellhousing. Quite often if you spray them with WD40 it quitens for a chort time. You can give that ago.

Hey guys i checked under the car to have a look and it doesnt appear to be the prop, there is no movemnt in the prop and it doesnt appear to be loose or anything the only thing is that there is some movement when trying to twist it left and right but since both the prop and the where it attaches to the clutch move im guessing this is normal. so after all my looking and got my dad to have a butchers, i am going on the conclusion that it is the clutch bearing. Now all i need to know is how i replace the bearing and where i can get a new one from, and will it be worth getting a pro to do the work????

Thanks for all the help and for all the help im sure ill need in the future.

The prop won't visibly wobble, even if it is a bent shaft.

There are three bearings to consider. Firstly the pilot bearing, in the end of the crankshaft. Secondly, the bearing on the clutch output shaft (replace the whole output shaft & housing, like I did when I had a bent shaft). Finally, there's the input shaft bearing on the gearbox. I strongly suspect it's one of the first two...almost certainly the one one the output shaft.

I'll put a pint on it that if you replace that shaft, your problem will be solved - whether it was due to a bent shaft, or a dead bearing.

also there isnt any wobble, its just twists a bit when u try to rotate it. is this a problem?? also it isnt the prob moving on the shaft the whole unit moves prop and shaft.

I know what you mean re: twist. That's just the slack in the box. Without taking the prop off, you'll not see or feel what I'm talking about. It may not be what I'm talking about, but it's certainly a strong possibility.

I suggest you have a chat to Chris....I imagine he'll be willing to wield spanners for a little beer money.

360s are different underneath, of course, but the same principle applies.

What did you do about replacing them? They appear to be no longer available. My plan involves revised mount layout and 940 hydraulic mounts...

Unfortunately havent addressed the problem properly at all but "smithy" said the tempory fix is to put some rubber in between the area so it wont touch and hey it worked although the rubber slips alot :(
